nah, balance is the 'bread of life'. Love is not always what is 'needed'. One example sometimes a person needs a 'sholder to cry on', other times they need a kick in the but.
In the OT, those that came preachin a god of love were called 'false prophets'...see Jeremiah 23:9-40. The 'sons of ephraim' tried that one too with the 'right hand of the father' and were condemned...See hosea and Habakuk.
Everything comes from God, the good and the bad.
Isa 45:7 I form Light and create darkness, I make weal(well-being) and create woe(misery/sin), I am the Lord, who do all these things.
Deut 32:39 "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.
EXO 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?
Its not until the rise of Christianity, that the SPIRIT get split into the good 'Jesus' and the evil 'satan"---which is just more of the canaanite mythos like was seen in Hosea and Habakuk.
Basic Canaanite mythos: They had Elohim, the creator father god who was kinda good and bad, but had a violent temper (sounds like the OT God). Elohim was said to favor his son MOT, the canaanite god of darkness---hehehee similar to Lucifer. Mot was in an eternal struggle with BAAL, the 'resurrected' son god of LIFE/Fertility.
One should also note that Ephraim was the son of Joseph born in the city of bethel.

Sure, without love, no baby would survive. Also, Jesus is love, and in a spiritual sense, He is the bread of life, and His message was to love one another.

Altruism & compassion is the 'bread of life', "love" is too vague and emotional.
