Why can't you sleep? Are you drinking coffee or soda to late in the day? Consuming tons of sugar, especially to late at night? Maybe you aren't getting enough exercise so your body is not tired. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet, you don't go to bed to stressed, and you calm down before bed. Try not going on the computer an hour before bed, the bright lights signal something in your brain to make you more awake. Try reading or doing something that is very calming. My mother lays in the dark on the floor and does some slow stretches, I forget what they are called at the moment, but it relaxs her. If you still can't sleep try researching your condition at the library. I hope I helped at least a little.

Have you tried Melatonin? This is a naturally occurring hormone in the body which regulates sleep cycles. If your sleep cycle is out of whack, a small dose of Melatonin for a short while could bring it back into line. Also, people who suffer from ADD / ADHD don't produce enough of this hormone, so if you (or your child) suffers from this condition, this may be your problem. You can pick up Melatonin in airports in most of the world as it's proven to lessen them symptoms of jet lag. However, if you're in the UK, it's not licensed, so you'd have to get it online.

Another, medication free method that I use to good effect is 7/11 breathing. Breathe in and out through your nose. In for a count of 7, out for a count of 11. I rarely get beyone 2 minutes before I'm snoring like a mad thing. I had a lot of problems getting my sleep back into a decent pattern after I had my second child (who breastfed 3 times a night until he was 14 months old), and this made all the difference to me.

Natual: Biological clock has a tendancy to move forward. Meaning it is easier to stay up later each day / night then trying to go to be earlier. Try staying up an hour later each day until you are going to bed about 3 hours before your desired bedtime. (Your body gets use to staying up a little later, so you want to stop early to give your body time to adjust). This method is time consuming and pretty difficult to stick with.

Medication: Melatonin can be purchased over the counter. You can take this about an hour before bedtime. Melatonin is produced naturally by your body to help you sleep. Taking it orally can help your body know it's time to go to sleep.
Valerian root: Also over the counter, can help induce sleep.
Benedryl: This makes most ppl super drowsy when they wake up.

Hope this helps. I have the same problem. So far Melatonin has worked the best for me. I try not to use it all the time, just when my sleeping schedule gets out of wack.

Are you drinking any caffiene before bed? You are technically supposed to stop drinking caffiene after 4 o'clock in order for it not to effect your sleeping habits. Other then that, make sure you don't nap during the day. If I can't sleep, I read a book and eventually get tired.

If you are not sleeping then there must be something wrong. Something as simple as back pain/spasms can keep you up without you realizing why. The bottom line is you need to see a doctor. Good luck.

I am taking Tylenol PM and it is working for me. If this doesn't work, see a doctor. Don't have any stimulants later in the day. Don't do things that get you going. Do things that relax you and don't focus on falling asleep, just relaxing.

That's what they make SLEEPING PILLS for! You owe it to yourself to consult your doctor and get a prescription until you're back on track. Good luck!
