Is unbiblical a word?

Actually, even in the NT it talks alot about giving to the church. Remember, about how you should do it discretely?

Tithing is not unbiblical. It was commanded in the OT, to tithe grain, and flesh, so that the Levititical Priests could eat. Malachi is of the OT, and it says tithe so that MEAT would be in the storehouse.

I fully support supporting your church and it's pastor. Our churches were never intended to live in rich splendor, or beyonds the means of the people. Many pastors guilt people into giving.

Jesus addresses tithing in Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, HYPOCRITES, for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weighter matter of the law, judgement, mercy and faith, these ought ye to have done and not leave the other undone.
Jesus says we are to do both, yet He did not mention money, He mentioned spices (food). (so that there shall be meat in my storehouse)
This is a complicated matter and I encourage you devote time to its study and let the Lord guide your conscience.

Tithing is from the old testament. It's argued that it does not apply to christians.

"The New Testament nowhere assigns a certain percentage of income to set aside, but only says it is to be “in keeping with his income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). The Christian church has essentially taken the 10% figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving."

Tithing is not unbiblical. It was required of the Jews under the Old Covenant. Under the New Covenant, we are told to give as we've been prospered. The New Covenant fulfills the Old and makes it perfect. We do not give a specific amount out of requirement. We give what we have set aside in our heart to give. For some, 10% may be too much like the widow who gave what little she had. For others, 10% may not be enough like the rich people who were watching the poor widow.

No the tithing is required by God.
Malachi 3:8-11 says:"8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

So you see, if you did not give tithe to your church, you are robbing God.

Did Hebrews affirm that the TITHE has not been abrogated? No. Melchizedek was a Canaanite priest-king whose geneology is unknown. Melchizedek provided FOOD AND DRINK to Abraham and FOOD AND DRINK was all that was ever tithed from the free lands where 10% was rent for developed farms.

Abraham, in turn gave 10% of the recovered LOOT belonging to the king of SODOM to Melchizedek. Solomon did not give ANY of his own cattle.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. Genesis14:18.

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: Gen 14:19

And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. Gen 14:20

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, Gen 14:22

That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: Gen 14:23

The prophecy was that the Levites would serve the people and NOT be served.

AFTER the fall into musical idolatry at Mount Sinai, this ended the "covenant of grace" under the first born sons as patriarchs. God IMPOSED the Law because He turned them over to "worship the starry host." The tribe of Levi did not inherit lands but were a servant tribe known as "the poor." They destroyed the CONGREGATIONAL pattern and established a DENOMINATIONAL pattern of slavery.

The others who had received a FREE FARM or flock were to give a tithe of the INCREASE or profit from the farm to the tribe of Levi.

If you didn't get a FREE farm you do NOT owe the profit you did not get.

If you are not of the tribe of LEVI fulfilling CIVIL SERVICES then YOU must not be a robber.

If I made tents I did NOT tithe because no one gave me a going business.

Tithing wages is called by Malachi ROBBERY.

At most only THREE out of a SEVEN-year cycle the increase FOOD ONLY from the FREE FARMS only went to the Tribe of Levi who were Civil Servants. Only One Tenth of this 3/7 PROFIT went to the Priests for religious services.

This is because the priests and Levites got a DAILY DOLE OF FOOD when on duty at the Temple and this was was served by COURSES. You notice that they took the FOOD to the Temple where it was stored up for ON DUTY PEOPLE.

When a Levite or Priest wanted to buy a new chariot, he DID NOT tax the working people: he like all religious servants in the more advanced olden ages, had an OCCUPATION.

Tithing is in the Old Testament. Giving is in the New Testament. Giving exceeds Tithing.

For the church to be an effective tool in the oppression of the masses, you must give it the $, so that the con artists that perpetuate it can live high on the hog.

Eliminate the $, communicate directly with your god, and the majority of the problems with religion, vanish. Or was that the politcal system here in America?

Churches need money to operate, support missionaries, help those in financial trouble, etc. It's a good idea to tithe if you are able, but I don't think it's a actually commanded in the New Testament.
