The cost of living is lower in Texas and jobs are plentiful from what I hear. U should make sure that u have a job before u move or at least enough money to live 3 months without work.

You are vague on Your decision for moving so quickly. You should be giving some thought to where You want to relocate.
Not all area's are the same, if You have traveled the U.S. You are undoubtedly familiar with this. Some major cities have high employment, but also have a high crime rate. If money is not an issue, take some time to explore on the Internet. You can look up the best cities for employment, crime rate, and other activities. I do not have an insight of Your situation, whether this is a personal move or a monetary, but its always best to have the job and then make the move.

Personally, if I were you, I would do a few things before moving. Perhaps you might want to take a little vacation and stay in the city you're planning to move to. This will help you determine if you would like to live there or not. I had a friend that was about to drop everything here in L.A. and move to philly af ew years ago, but after spending a weekend there, he saw he just couldn't live there.
As for the job situation, personally I would contact a few companies, send them your resume, and if possible, schedule interviews during your vacation time in that city. This will give you a head start and hopefully you would have a job soon after moving to that city.
If you simply MUST move before finding a job, ideally you would have some $$$ saved up for bills. I recommend having at LEAST 3 to 4 months worth of s money stashed if you plan on doing this. This not only will allow you to stay on your feet for a few months, but will save you quite a bit of stress, not to mention allow you to wait and hold out for the "right" job. If you went broke, you might be relegated into accepting the first job offer you receive, even if you feel its not the right one.
Other things I think might be pertinent are looking at the cost of living, avg rent prices, etc etc. If you have kids, might want to look at the school performance/quality in the area as well.
In any case, GOOD luck with your move! hope all goes well for ya :)

In my experience it is best to have a job lined up if you don't already have enough cash on hand to cover your move and living expenses for at least 3 to 6 months while you did a job search. Depending on what you do though some consutant types jobs don't require you to be based out of anywhere in particular. My cousin's husband is in IT and took a consultant type job while they lived in FL so they were able to plan their move to CO. It was neat because her husband got on a plane in FL for a job trip and actually came home from that trip to their new place. Neat huh? Good luck!

Just an idea. Give us a chance to match up what you do, to where it would be most aplicable. You may be well surprised. You don't really want to end up somewhere, where your talent won't work. There's enough of us out here, that'll give you an honest answer. Some of the least likelyest places, could turn into a real gold mine. Just a hint. I would begin sending out my CV (resume) to companies in the areas that I am interested in moving to. Only after I have a secure job offer would I ever uproot and move to another state. Why are you leaving us???

first of all find a job. you may want to think where, to which state you want to move to beforehand. but don't start looking for housing then. with the right amount of money or to know that you will be able to repay a mortgage is important you'll be able to find a place to live.

Look for job first .
Take job ,
Rent UHaul .

Never quit first because employers prefer to hire working people before hiring the unemployed .
There are negative images if you're unemployed .
Get the new job first .

Find the job and then move. It is always easier to find a place to stay when you have income.
