Subject: Hired To Kill You....

Dear Friend,

It is important we come to a conclusion now or never because, I have
been hired to kill you, this is the simple fact and I have been paid
well for this job to be sincere with you, I have your full data’s, from
your name, to your address, to your phone numbers including this email
address. I watch you everyday since the past two weeks and I know
where you go and when you come back and everything you do. Do not dare me,
I am a born killer, which is what I do to survive, I was born and
brought up in Mexico.

Never the less, I do not want to kill you, reasons best known to me,
only if you will comply with my ransom and I will let you go and even
send you the pictures of the person in charge (Who Paid me to kill you)
including a very important video tape that you might need.

NOTE: No Police. Ignore this message if you wish to die, I give you 5
days to comply or I will come for you. I am presently on another
assignment. You have your choice.

While this is more than likely a joke & has already been reported on, it would make sense to just send this to your Internet Crime Bureau. Acting in a sensible manner does not make you stupid.. and despite what some have said on here.. you do not need to freak out - just pass it on and continue on your life.

People! There are many of us that know how to handle various things; however it is obvious in some postings that the poster may not be as equipped. I'm not saying this is the case here; however I want to be crystal clear.. not everyone on Yahoo Answers is of sound mind & body and therefore some of the comments may cause some sort of negative reaction or paranoia. I realize we cannot tip toe as we walk through life and trust me I know that I've made my share of comments.. yet, in situations like this regarding a hit or terroristic act.. try to err on the side of caution.

Poster: It is not common for a target to be forewarned via email. This is upsetting; however as I said before... send it on and then go back to life as usual.

I wish you well!

WorldStart.com had this covered in their Computer Tips Weekly newsletter early in August. In part, here's what they said:

First of all, this scam is going by the name of "Hitman Scam" and basically, if you are contacted, you will receive an e-mail from the scammer saying they've been hired to put a "hit" out on you. They will then tell you that they can stop the whole thing if you pay them a certain amount of money. The e-mail you receive goes into this long schpeal about how they were hired and why you're the one being targeted. They then talk about how much money is involved and so on. The amounts I've seen so far have been anywhere between $50,000 and $150,000.

Now, while the e-mail may sound very legit, don't fall for it! It's all a scam. There is no such hitman, there's no plot set in place, nothing. Everyone who gets the e-mail is told the same exact thing, which makes the whole thing phony in itself. The only thing at risk is your bank account if you give in to it. I know this may sound a little far fetched, but it has been verified by Snopes and I have read about it in online news articles and I've heard about it on the radio. This scam originated back in 2006, but it seems to be resurfacing again. So, please keep an eye out for this type of thing in your Inbox and keep yourself safe. Just delete the e-mail and you'll be just fine. Trust me on this one!

This is SUCH a joke--but turn it in to the police anyway, because it's an illegal joke.

Why do I say it's a joke? Because if someone wants to kill you, they won't give you a warning. Because at the end s/he speaks of complying with ransom, but hasn't made a ransom demand, and in any case, ransom is about kidnapping, not about assassination. Because the threat "I am a born killer... I was born and brought up in Mexico" makes absolutely no sense, except to someone NOT a Mexican, but who instead is so biased agaisnt Mexicans that s/he sees them all as born killers, which is truly ignorant.

So... joke. But also, illegal. Sic 'em.

That is unusual... Hitmen do not send warning emails to their hit. It's most likely to be a scam/joke/spam/phishing or virus email. Forward it to your local police site or to the FTC if you think this is real, but I don't.
