Job 1:21 The LORD (Yahweh) gives & the LORD taketh away. Other verses where God is called Yahweh are:
Job 1:12, 21; 2:1-7; 12:9; 38:1; 40:1,3,6; 42:1,7,9,10,11,12 .

Other names Job called God:
Almighty - Shadday or El Shadday
God - Elohim, Alyh, El,

El Shadday is God Almighty.

JuliaD, Then how do you sound out YHVH? When you pray to the Lord.

God. However, I tend to run with Julia D's thread. YHVH is probably not pronounced "Yahweh", but we don't know for sure WHAT the original name for God was. The reason is because before a scripe could write the name, they were required to go through rituals that were very time consuming, so to conserve time, and not be punished for "taking the name of the LORD thy God in vain" they shortened it to YHVH. They were not even allowed to speak the name, except in very specific circumstances, and they lost the REAL name of God. The church today is in much the same state. Trying to uphold minute principles of the scriptures, we are in danger of missing the far bigger picture- helping others. God never meant for it to be slander for His name to be "mis-pronounced" but rather the commandment was against abuse or misuse of His name.

Job addresses God in ways apropriate to the context of the assertions that he (Job) makes, unlike his judgemental 'friends', who address God only as 'El' (Judge). Unlike his 'friends', Job is well aware of God's many names and what each of them means, and Job takes GREAT care not to misuse any of them in even the slightest manner. Job chooses all of his words with the greatest of care, and cannot be accused of speaking vainly, even though his associates (and his wife) try to goad him into speaking carelessly. God intervenes later in the story to rebuke Job's 'friends', (also to rebuke Elihu) and set the record straight: Job has spoken rightly!

There is no such name as "Yahweh". It's a Church mistranslation of the Tetragrammaton "YHVH".

"Yahweh" is NOT how YHVH is pronounced.
