If you cook it in your oven, I'd set the temperature to 400º, place the steaks on a steak platter, season, and cook 10 minutes. Turn it over and cook 10 more minutes. Then turn your oven to broil and broil just long enough for the fat to brown and get crispy - no longer. Your steaks will be perfect.

Cooking low and slow is always going to give you more flavor and a more tender steak.

I'd keep them well above the charcoal. You could even put the charcoal on one side of the grill, put the meat on the other side, and put the top on the grill.
