YEAH!!!!! You go Liz!!! You know why? Because, perhaps...God has a use for your talents. After all, it was HE who gave them to you! Oh, I am so very proud of you. If you were here, I'd give you a hug!! A Momma's hug, of course!
Liz, I saw so much potential in you and now, I see you are growing into a very wonderful woman! Why? Because you have taken a deep look into your heart and you are beginning to see that the things of this world are not worth worshipping! Only God, is worth worshipping!
Liz, where do you go from here? Straight to someone who can help you in your "walk." Ask the Lord to come into your heart and direct your path. He will, Liz. Between you and the Lord....there are NO boundaries set! SING your little heart out for HIM and I bet He will heal your tone deafness! If not, He will use you in the ways you most desire!
Oh geesh, tears of joy here! I have missed hearing from you and would love to know more. Just hang in there, sweet girl and know that I stand with you in your new freedom!

Congratulations. You did the right thing. I threw out a bunch of bad music years ago when I became a Christian and never regretted it. You need to get involved in a ministry at church. Join the choir and tell the choir director you are willing to do solos or duets with someone else. Volunteer for the nursery - the babies are lots of fun. Keep an eye on the church bulletin to see what other opportunities there are. If you haven't found a Bible-believing church yet, that would be the first thing to do. God bless you. I'll pray for you.

Congratulations! That IS such a big deal for anyone to do what you just did. It is a physical form of catharsis or "spring cleaning" of your own environment.
Now it's time to do some real soul-searching with both your eyes and your mind open. There are many options out there for you to choose from. Start by picking the ones that pique your interest the most, and learn about "something new" each time you go out. They could be books, CDs, tapes, videos, etc.
If you want to delve into your spirituality, go visit a bookstore or library and find out your preferences. Talk to people you trust. Make new friends. Visit different places. Always try something different from what you already know...
You are now evolving or maturing to the next phase in your life. Good luck and Godspeed in your "new you"!
Peace be with you.

I'm Agnostic, so I wouldn't have done that, but if you're Christian and follow a faith where listening to that kind of stuff, and worshipping "false idols" (i.e. in this case Lavigne), is bad, then good for you for making the big step.
First thing to do is not ask that question here - no offense to Y!A, but look at the responses you've gotten so far! Go to your local church and ask what to do next, hopefully they'll give you things to do.
If not, then find some groups in your area to help out at soup kitchens, and stuff like that. I can't say what the best Christian work ethic is - other than working hard in work/school, disallowing yourself to give into temptation, trying to help others, try having fun w/o bad influences (i.e. go to the beach, park, hang out with friends, etc...), and, of course, reading the bible.
Good luck and congrats on this big step!

You don't have to throw out everything you used to have for entertainment. But if you really do want to continue like this, maybe you should read some books on the essence of Christianity (or whatever it is you are), and I do not mean the bible, although you could do that too. Join a good church and get involved in it.

I think that was really admirable of you, not wanting to go back to your old ways and protecting you mind from things you thought might pull you back. Change isn't easy, often a change in atmosphere really helps. I, for one, am proud of you!
The next thing you do is submerge yourself in wonderful worship to God. Honestly, I hate most Christain music, not because it's Christian, but because it's kind of one-dimensional... keep looking around, you'll find somebody else to listen to.

Whatever you do.....
do not start listening to mainstream christian rock. I'm down with Christianity, but the music is simply awful. It seems that all the worst record producers ban together to make christian rock records cuz no one else wants to make them. They are soooooooo corny. Sheesh. If you want music without "bad" influences that still is worthwhile, check out ethnic "world" music, classical, jazz, folk music, show tunes, opera, indie music, etc. These genres still have lots of integrity as actual music. : - )

I remember the day that I gave away my favorite sweater. I just loved it. God told me He wanted me to give it away. Since I believe that God wants the best for me it was sent out the door. You just keep trusting and listening to God. We are not to put anything before Him, He is number 1. One time I had to give my car away because I trusted in that little thing more than I trusted in God. The more you listen to Him and do what He tells you to the more He will use you to touch other people's lives. Having anything material that keeps us from drawing closer to God is not worth keeping. Keep up the good work.

If you haven't ask Jesus to be Lord. Replace the things with Christian things. Get some Christian CD's, etc.. Also study the Bible.
