Hello:

My friend Allison lives down in Tennessee and she told me that instead of Squirt soft drink, they have what is called,"Sun Drop,"and she says it is nastier than heck. Allison sent me some Sun Drop to Michigan, and all I have to say is thank goodness for Squirt because she was right,Sun Drop soda pop is nasty, ewww! *Winnie Gags* :-(

I have never heard of that drink in particular but, I have run across similar situations with other drinks. For example in Puerto Rico, it is very hard to find root beer. There are a couple of reasons as to why this is. First is the size of the company. If we are talking a huge company like coca cola then they will distribute their products world wide. However, smaller companies do not have this capability. What they do then is distribute their product withing a certain region. For example some companies in the north limit themselves to new england region and maybe New York and Jersey. Another reason is the result of market research. Again with the dr pepper example (root beer) market research shows that most Puerto Ricans do not like root beer. At least thats what the belief is. I like it but I started liking it as an adult. Anyways, if the product is not going to sell well they will not distribute it to that area. This is why you can go to walmart and find products available in the east coast and not in the west coast simply because there is no sell value in one of the areas. Remember that the sole purpose of any bussiness is to make money. If its not making money is not worth while.
