One thing, you need the same faith (religion). Also do a lot of talking about situations, like who should work... both, one of you, or maybe after the children are raised. Go out and be in different situations. In stress the true inside (heart) is exposed. Then evaluate if this is the kind of person you want, and is this the kind of person that the Lord would send you.

Are you talking about a relationship such as husband/wife? I don't think that God 'hand picks' our spouses. He gives us guidelines to choose wisely. If He chose our spouses, it would negate free will.
