I have dated my boyfriend for the past year, knowing that he would be going to Italy. Its been amazing and we are perfect for each other as far as I am concerned. We are both in love, but he seems set on moving on once he gets there. He says he would concider a long distance relationship if I wanted to oblige. Do you think I should try to do a long distance relationship for a year till he gets back? I really love him and can't imagine being without him. I know it will be easier for him because he is exposed to a whole new world, but its going to stink for me being here. How should I deal with this?

try the long distance for a while but it may not work out , due to the fact that he is so far away and you may develop feeling for someone else as well . good luck

use this as a chance to meet other people. your probably not going to want to wait for an entire year with out dating at all. you don't have to do anything serious with anyone. agree to keep in contact, but to also see other people. if when he gets back you haven't met anyone new thats great, but if you just wait, you may regret the year as missed opportunities. also, its probably better to do it now in person when it can be happy and you can both agree to things, rather than trying the distance thing, having it fall apart and then ending things in a bitter break.

remember, you can always get back together when he gets home

Wow. I'm sorry to say this, but the way you've explained it makes it sound like you're more involved with him than he is with you.

"He seems set on moving on once he gets there." "...he could consider a long distance relationship..." That tells me all I need to know. He's humoring you but ready for this change, including a change away from you.

Yeah, it hurts, but you heal up stronger, and ready for somebody more worthy of your love.

Wish him well, and let him go.
