The gum underneath the tooth, which is the one on my left side of the bottom of my mouth hurts like heck when i touch it. if i press on it or my nail goes a little under the gum it hurts so much it feels like i hit a nerve or something. if i do the same thing to the other side of my mouth it doesnt hurt at all. I really hate the dentist.....i dont want to go! =[ (i know if it keeps up i will have to go..) could it be gingivitis, so all i need to do is get some mouthwash and clean regularly?

that sounds more that a simple gingivitis, you might have an infection. and you got to be careful about those could ti can go to the bone and then is not a pretty thing. get some peroxide & warm water ( as hot as you can take ) 1/2cup & 1/2 of each mix in a cup and rinse your mouth with that a couple times, do this like every hour, when you are rinsing hold the mix on the side that is bothering you for a minute or two before you spit water out, see if this gets you better if not you'll have to go to the dentist...

It sounds like more than just gingivitis. You could potentially have an abscess, which left untreated, could lead to a root canal or losing the tooth entirely. I would recommend going to the dentist, even though you don't like it, and get an x-ray done. This way you can really see what is going on underneath. Your dentist will give you the right treatment, and if it is just sensitive gums, there are toothpastes and rinses that may help. Just get it checked out soon!
