The rule of thumb here is to wash the baked potato (Usually russetts, which are the brown ones, or sweet potatos are baked)and use a dollop of butter and wrap in aluminum foil. A regular sized baker should be cooked at 400 degrees for an hour.
My family enjoys boiled potatos a lot. The best potatos for boiling are either red or gold, but any will work. You wash them and can either skin them or not. Boil on high (watch for over flowing) for about 30-45 minutes. The smaller the chunks the less cook time.
If you are slow cooking, like in a crock pot, then about 4-5 hours on a med-high temp depending on the size of the potatos. Hope this helps.

The microwave cooks them quicker.... 6 potatoes cook in the microwave for 20 to 25 minutes depending on how big they are..Poke holes in the potatoes .. Try making twice baked potatoes so good... Cook them in the microwave and then wait for them to cool... Cut them down the middle and then scoop out the center of them... Put it in a bowl and mix butter, cheese and ranch (if you like ranch)... After you smash them put it back in the center of the potato... Top with cheese and bacon (if you like bacon) and put in the oven at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes so yummy........

You can cook a potato in the microwave really fast in the microwave, and if you wrap it in plastic (poke holes in the potato first) it keeps it nice and soft. (How long depends on your microwave, check your manual) If you cook it in the oven you have to have the heat at around 450 degrees or higher and cook it for at least 30 minutes (longer if large). Microwave is faster and saves energy!!!!

bake it at about 350 degrees f. in an oven, for about an hour. Check with a fork for doneness. You can also microwave it, for about 4 to 8 minutes, dpending on the microwave. If you do this, poke some fork holes in it first to release steam.

I like the crispy taste from the oven. Rinse in cold water, brush off any muddy spots with your fingers. Throw in the oven, bake for about 1 hour at 400. (more or less, the temperature can be varied, if you need them faster crank it to 450, if you're cooking something else, cook at 350 for example for longer) You can also speed up the cooking by making a few holes in the potato with a meat fork or stab it through with a shishkebob fork, be inventive)

For a large potato, pierce it and put it in the oven for about 3/4 of an hour to an hour depending on how high you have the heat.
Dont cook it in the microwave, the skin will be soft and rubbery, not very nice at all.

Poke 3-4 holes in it with a fork or knife, about 1 inch deep. Wrap with aluminum foil. Bake one hour in the oven at 350 degrees.

You will need…
4 large potatoes
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
sea salt
4 generous knobs butter
1 bowl
1 fork
kitchen roll
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2: Preheat the oven
Set the oven to 180ºC (350ºF/ gas mark 4).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3: Wash the potatoes
Place the bowl of potatoes in the sink and rinse them well under a cold running tap, turning occasionally to ensure they are thoroughly clean.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 4: Dry the potatoes
Put a piece of kitchen roll onto a flat working surface, place the potatoes on top and pat them dry with a second piece of kitchen roll.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 5: Pierce the potatoes
Take a fork and pierce each potato 8-10 times, all over. This releases the moisture when cooking and stops them going soggy. Place them into a large bowl, pour over the oil and mix well with your hand. Sprinkle over a generous amount of salt and mix well once more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 6: Bake
Place the potatoes in the centre of the oven on a wire rack and bake for 1 hour until they become crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft in the middle.
