The reason certain sculptures of figures and animals were forbidden was because of the practices of the Quraysh at the time of the Prophet (saws). They were used for worship, not for telling stories or for visual appeal, neither for memories like we use photographs today. Because of this reason, later on in Islamic history, it became less taboo to paint and sculpt people and animals, because using it for worship went out of style. You will find many paintings and sculptures later in Islamic history, especially within Persian art.

about acceptable art forms according to Islamic tenets:
the interior designs is good example you can design your form to be useful as chairs ,etc and to share your style and to be given expression about your idea using serialize , cubism ,plastic or national art

about the black stone you did not even see it
it is a natural black stone with no images or paintings
the prophet Mohamed kissed this stone because the stone was sent from the paradise and all Muslims do the same

Well, it surely isn't antiquities of a historical nature, they destroyed irreplaceable statutes well over a thousand years old of Buddha. Though Buddha was a philosopher and not a religionist.

On the moment any rock is worshipped it becomes an Idol. That is an absolute was their excuse. But, they are not destroying the Rocks the Muslims worship.
