At what age do you think teens/young adults should be allowed to drive? (Example: 16,17, 18....)

At what age do you feel they should stop driving? (Example Over 50, Over 60, Over 70....)

And any reason why?

I suggest:
minimum age--18
no max, but yearly testing of drivers over 70.
There ya go!!

I was licensed at 16, and do not see that as too young to drive. Parents need to set the rules for their children. If some one is not mature and responsible enough to drive at 16, then it is up to their parents to not allow them to get a driver's license yet!

As to older drivers, unless there is a physical reason for them not to drive (health problems) I do not see a need for a set upper limit. There are some 75- 80 year olds that are perfectly fine driving, and there are some who at 60 have lost the physical ability.
When an older person no longer drives, they lose the freedom to do what they want! They have to count on someone else to take them to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and anywhere else they wish to go.

It varies from state to state which makes it so much harder. In my state, NJ, you now can't get your permit until you're 17 now(new law), luckily, I'm a senior of that law, and I just got my permit at 16. The permit at 16 is great, but I feel like so many kids take advantage of it. One 17 year old kid got his liscense at 17 and then was speeding at 110 right outside of school and killed 1 and injured 2, and he got out injury free last year and everyone at my school hated him so much after that, so he did learn his lesson.

Still, I think you should be a bit more mature before you can drive.

And I'm not sure there should be an age limit for old people because it depends on the person. Some can't drive because they're old, yes, but others are still great drivers at 70, 80, and above.

16 seems really young to be driving. I shake in my boots when I think that my stepdaughter will be able to get her permit next year!!!

17 or 18 would be better. Somehow, kids mature A LOT in the last 2 years of high school.

As for a cut-off age, families should be responsible for knowing if their Mom or Dad is getting too forgetful, sick, near-sighted or befuddled to get behind the wheel. It is difficult to confront an elderly parent and say "Give me the keys Dad. It's time to stop driving." So, there should be some kind of Elderly Driver tipline, where you can anonymously report that So-and-So needs to be checked up on/ evaluated.

Tough call to make, in either case.

I say 16 just because that's what the law sets the minimum age for the license at. (At least in Minnesota) And being 17, it makes things a lot easier because I can't even tell you the last time I had to get a ride anywhere from my parents. I think it's a win-win situation for the three of us.

As for the age to quit driving, I think whenever the person is incabable of operating their vehicle safely. Such as a visual or hearing imparment. Etc...

hmm I think ppl should start driving at like 17 or 18. But a lot of ppl start drving at 16 cause they need to go to school somehow. And a lot of ppl in highschool don't like riding the bus.

I don't think there should really be a cut off. Like I guess if their eyes are going bad then thats a cut off. But exact age? I don't really know. I kinda would have to experence it first which is something I def. don't wanta do at this age.

No sooner than 18 years old to start. After 50 they should be required to do a driver's test every several years.
