Right now, we are at the "primary" phase of the contest where people vote for Republican and Democrat nominees. (Yes there are Independents and Minor Parties, but the reality is their road is quite difficult)

Republicans:
Former NYC Mayor Rudy Guliani
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee
US Congressman (TX) Ron Paul (* He ran as a Libertarian for President in 1988)
US Congressman (CA) Duncan Hunter
US Congressman (CO) Tom Tancredo
US Senator (AZ) John McCain
US Senator (KS) Sam Brownbeck
Illinous Businessman John Cox

Undeclared, but possible Republican Nominee:
Former US Senator (TN) Fred Thompson

Democrats:
US Senator (NY) Hillary Clinton
US Senator (IL) Barack Obama
Former US Senator (NC) John Edwards
US Congressman (OH) Dennis Kucinich
US Senator (CT) Chris Dodd
US Senator (DE) Joseph Biden
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson
Former Senator (AK) Mike Gravel

Possible (but unlikely) entrant on Democrat side:
Former Vice President Al Gore

Possible Independent Candidate:
Current NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Possible Independent or Green Candidate:
Activist Ralph Nader (Ran in '04)

The Green Party and Libertarian Parties nominate at Conventions and do not (to my knowledge) engage in primaries.

Not every state will have the Green or Libertarian candidate on the ballot in November 2008 as singatures are required in most states for so-called "3rd parties" to gain access.

I hope this has been helpful. I live in New Hampshire, where we live and breathe this stuff, being the 1st in the nation primary state, and I will do all in my power to keep it that way!

You'll know after the parties announce their nominees for the office. If you belong to one of the parties, you may be able to vote for a particular candidate who wants to be the nominee. If you don't know who is trying to gain your party's nomination, why do you care who is running? Better yet, what registrar of voters do I blame for letting you into a voting booth in the first place?

Please vote for Dennis Kucinich.

Democrats
Dennis Kucinich
John Edwards
Barack Obama
Hillary Clinton
Joe Biden

Republicans
Mitt Romney (yuck, did a terrible job as MA governor)
Rudy Giuliani
Ron Paul (seems ok)
I can't remember the others.
