Should this be considered one of the leading causes of auto accidents?

I consider myself to be a safe driver. Except when my (soon to be Ex-) wife is yelling in my ear about whatever she is irritated about at the moment and screaming at me to change lanes because i got in the wrong lane. "THE OTHER LANE IDIOT!!"

I nearly have a collision with the car to the side of me. I am so sorry for scaring them like that and causing them to be upset.

Distracted driving is one of the major causes of car accidents. Not having your full attention on your driving is dangerous for you, your passengers, and others around you. If you are in an argument while driving it's best to pull over to the side of the road or highway to avoid just the sort of situation you recently found yourself in.

Yes, it's a pain in the AS$, but it may save your life and/or the lives of people around you. Loved ones included.

It's a cliche, but safety is not accident--you need to be conscious of safety when you're in a situation where you can seriously hurt yourself or others. That includes while driving.

Yes, that can be a huge cause of accidents and driver distraction. A passenger who is constantly criticizing and screaming at the driver causes anxiety and nervousness, which can be far worse than any other type of distraction.

Your question does have one positive note, however, and that is the phrase "soon to be ex." Sounds like you and everyone else on the road will be safer when it happens.

it is ridiculous - Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin had not something to do with this guy occurring a rampage. Why do you save blaming those human beings? Why do not you attempt to the leftest media who do not report the thoughts appropriately. No they did not reason it the two. Get rid of her ASAP and don't ever get married again. You don't know how to handle a mouthy Female. That backhand suggestion was a good one, but you'll probably do some time in jail, so just get rid of her and your driving will improve. Find someone who will show you the proper respect, and give her the same.

95% of all "accidents" are caused by driver error, any error, speeding, lack of attention, under the influence, not sure if "nagging wife" is listed though. Try letting it in through one ear and out through the other, a totally unrestricted passage !

Many years ago, I learned a few lessons. If someone in the car spots a genuine emergency before I do, he/she is welcome to tell me. If someone feels the need to second guess me and be a back-seat driver, I tell him/her to shut up or get out and walk.
