I am intelligent, but not a very good worker and I am very shy, so my people skills aren't verry good. I want to work. But I have had 9 jobs in the last 10 years. I saw a couple of counslers, but they weren't helpful. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advise?

Years ago I was in advertising, and being shy I had a problem presenting campaigns. What I did is put myself in sales to force myself to get over the shyness. Ended up getting and award for setting a new record. You have to face your fears, in fact force yourself to do just that. What you are lacking is confidence, confidence in yourself and your knowledge. In my job now I have to give presentations still nervous but willnot give up. Hand in there you can do it

What do you mean you're not a good worker? Do you mean you are lazy, or do you mean that you don't like physical labor?

You say that you want to work, so I take it that you are not lazy, so what does "I'm not a very good worker" mean?

As for people skills, being shy is not a bad thing, lots of people are shy and successful in their jobs. However, being shy means that you probably would not be successful as a server, bartender, human resources associate, social worker, etc.

So here's my advice: look at yourself honestly and think about what the problem is. You say you want to work, but do you really just NEED to work, rather than wanting to? In other words, have you ever actually had a job that you liked?

I recommend exploring your passions, thinking about what kind of job that you might actually like doing, because if you like it, you will have the motivation to work on yourself and become better and better.

What do you do in your free time? What are your hobbies and interests? What are you naturally good at? These answers should serve as tips to guide you in the direction of what job you would be good at.

However, remember that the world of work is not easy, and sometimes you just have to try to stop gritting your teeth (because you can't grin) and bear it. You may be stuck in a crappy job for a while, but at least you'll be making money for yourself, rather than relying on someone else to take care of you. With that money, you can take some classes at a community college and work on building a career that you will really enjoy.

Best of luck to you and to all of us who are doing the best we can in our work lives!

Did you figure out why you are not a good worker ?

If you find a job where you respect the employer / business , you should want to do a good job for them .
Maybe focus your energy on finding a business you can respect and do an honorable job for .
Living your life as an unproductive sponge will never be full-filling .

Find a job that will motivate you to be honorable about your work .

Maybe you need the type of job that doesn't involve a lot of public contact, and allows you to work by yourself. Or, you may want to develop your public relations skills in order to be successful in customer service or that type of work. Ask yourself what you really enjoy doing, and what would give you the most satisfaction. That will give you a clue as to what type of employment you're best suited for. When you enjoy what you're doing, you'll give it your best shot. Good luck!

Just do something that would make you feel better and more confident before an interview. Like meet with your best friends and tell them to go over the things that they most like about your personality. :) It will help you feel better and more confident, and it will help you answers some of the questions the interviewers are going to ask you about your skills and personality. :)
Hope you get the job you want :)

I found this site when I was looking for Pizza Hut coupons to print out on my computer.
I joined them with out knowing exactly what I was getting into, but I'm glad I did.
I went back to the site the following day to find that I had made money
and I didn't do a darn thing!
