Here's a list of products that would work and some downsides:
Curl Cream: thick and heavy
Gel: Crunchy
Pomade: Sticky, leaves a matte finish
Wax: Not too much to complain about. Redken's "water wax" is excellent.
Mousse: In small quantities is good, but can get sticky
So, if your son has LOTS of hair, super thick, or coarse hair, something thicker (like cream) should be used. If he's got less, or fine hair, then something lighter should be used ( like wax).

KMS leave in conditioner. You use less than the size of a pea and rub your hands together and apply after you towel dry and the hair is still damp.

Life and being happy. God gave him his natural beauty and nature will take care of it. Just don't take him to the hair shop too much.
