Yes, a short dress, or even dressy evening pants with a sparkly top are appropriate for the formal nights. You do not need to take lots of dress up clothes, there are usually only 2 or 3 formal nights on most shorter cruises, and people often repeat an outfit. Pack a long black skirt with several dressy tops, or accessorize a black dress with a glittery shawl or scarf, and jewelry. Have a great time. Good Luck.

Most 7-day cruises have two formal nights when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women. Some men just wear a suit and tie and some women wear a nice dress but not a gown. You will not be denied access to the dining room or anything else if you choose not to dress up.

So you can wear anything that suits you and that you will not feel out of place in. Your dress does not have to be mid-calf or floor length. If by short you mean knee length or thereabouts, that will be fine. People dress that way all of the time.

Yes! In fact a short dressy dress is better than a long one because you can go out dancing and to the clubs and casino after dinner in it. Whereas with a long one you might want to change. I just got back from a 7 night cruise and wore a long one both nights and had to go back and change after dinner because it was too hard to walk in and dance in for late night activities.

never been on a Med cruise, yet from what i've got examine, they have a tendency to be extra dressy than, say a Caribbean cruise, in part by using preponderance of Europeans on board. you do no longer "have" to positioned on any particular form of gown. you are able to consistently to bypass the Lido or between the alternative, casual venues on board and positioned on besides the fact which you like. yet once you bypass to the eating room, you should stay with the robe code - shorts will truthfully no longer be allowed. bypass out and purchase an prolonged undeniable black dressy skirt and positioned on it with a pair of dressy tops. Or, locate a reliable-high quality consignment shop and seek for an prolonged gown, sparkly tops, etc. I as quickly as discovered an prolonged, sparkly, clingy knit black gown with a bolero jacket for $25 at this variety of shop. suitable for formal night on a cruise and it packs rather properly.
