I have a roast in to slow cooker as we speak and I got home later then i thought. I put it in at 230 eastern time. Will it be done by the latest 7pm. That gives it 4.5 hours to cook. If not what can I do so it will still taste good!

Roast is much better done low & slow, but since you are already rushed for time, there is a quick way to keep the meat juicy & tender. When there is 1 hour left of cooking time ( or a little longer) add 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 tablespoon of worchester sauce & 1 stick butter. Close back & keep shut for at least an hour, then check meat - 1 & 1/2 hours would be even better......I like to serve with fresh coleslaw & homemade cornbread!!

Enjoy!

It depends on how big the roast is and if it was thawed or still frozen. 4-5 hours of cook time should be enough time for a roast (again, depending on the size). What you can do to speed it up is cut the roast into smaller chunks which will allow a quicker cook time. I like having lots of vegetables in it, and sometimes I'll make rice using the broth from the roast after it's finished cooking. It makes the rice taste really good.

If the roast is 3-4 lbs, it should be done and tender in 4.5 hours. Just to be sure, I would cook it on high for about 30 minutes and then turn to low for the rest of the time period.

It will taste good but may be a bit tough. The longer time at lower temp makes for tenderer pot roast. It will be fully cooked however.
