You should slow down to 10 miles below the speed limit to allow them to pass. As they are beside your car, apply your brakes so they can pass you without making eye/facial contact. If they continue to harass you, call 911 on your cell phone. If it is possible, Report their vehicle make, model, color, driver description, passenger description and license plate, to police.
You should avoid confronting them because they may have a weapon.

People do that all to often to me when I'm at work. My company governs my semi to 75mph an still people get right on the back end where I can't see them. I try to pass quickly and get back into the right lane, but there are some people that I don't mind either coasting in front of or down shifting and letting the engine brake (jake brake) come on for a second to give them the hint.
I don't understand what everyone's problem is.... its not a race!! Sure we all want to get to where we are going quickly, but the things I've seen people do behind the wheel even with their own kids in the car makes me wonder how they ever got a license.

I used to slam on my brakes, or at least let them think I was. I never had a problem with the same person again. I quit because this lady slammed on her brakes in order to not hit my bumper and end up doing a 360 with her Beanie Babies on the dashboard flying all over the place. I still want to do it to this day, but people have been killed over something as stupid as tailgating...the whole road rage phenomenon. I just deal with it now.

I have only ever had someone tailgate me 2 times. Once I pulled over in the middle of the road and had a go at the guy tailgating me, and second time it happened, Ijust pulled over at the side of the road and waited for him to pass =]]

Use the old rolling road block - pull abreast of another driver in the second lane and stay at the same pace as them, that way the tailgater has no where to go. Or slow up to really piss them up ...

i tried making red lights flash
i tried pulling over very very very slowly
i tried getting annoyed and mouthing obscenities to no-one
didn't work
i tried going all Zen and not giving a feck - that worked.
Sadly we can't make stupidity illegal. Best hope is to leave a nice long gap in front (to make it unlikely that you will have to do a stop, so tailgater won't crash into you) and just let the little boys carry on playing cars

You slow down tremendously, then just press your brakes very lightly- this way, your brake lights turn on, and they get nervous. Make sure you're very alert while doing this though! You'll see them slowing down, and maybe changing lanes to catch up to you. This is when you speed up! hehe.

The best thing I find is to put your fog lights on. This will make them them think that you ar braking.
Another thing I do is if they are that far up my rear end, I tend to slow down until they get the hint.
I carry my 3 children in the back and that is why I detest these Tailgaters!!!!!

if i am in the right lane i slow down so they will pass. If I am in the other lane I will pull over to the right. alot of times I have seen those drivers pulled over up the road aways. I usually blow my horn as a cop is there with them.
