Probably as long as you didn't have any hopes of your ashes being buried or spread somewhere in particular because I doubt the cops would take the time or effort to try to get every last bit, if any. You would just have to make sure not to be inside any buildings because you don't want the deaths of other people on your hands. It would also hurt a lot and what do you really need the 2 grand for after you die anyway?

Yes and no. Yes, you're already creamated, so you (rather, your relatives) won't have to pay for that. On the other hand, you won't save money for "later when you die" because you're probably already dead.
