Actually yes you can have fleas in your home even if you don't have any pets yourself. you stated that you went to a friends home that has a cat. that could possibly be the culprit unless that cat is well groomed and dea-flea regularly. Unless an indoor/outdoor cat then it could be bringing in grass fleas. Also you could possibly be bringing in the grass fleas yourself by wearing clothing that might attract such insects from the outside. One recommendation I would make is going to your local pet store or a store that has pet supplies atleast and getting some vacuum-uppable flea powder and see if that helps any. If that doesn't then try consulting a pest control company and see if the could recommend a commercial product that gets rid of pet fleas and grass fleas.

Of course; you could have brought the fleas in on your shoes or the cuffs of your pants.
Get a flea bomb and set it off in your abode. It should take a couple of hours. That is the only way to get rid of the total infestation. Be sure and open the windows and air out the place when you return.
I don't know how you could be "trippin" (there is a 'g' at the end of that word) over a flea problem; they are so small.

You can pick up fleas just by walking through grass so you could have dog or cat fleas, as this is the height of summer and the 'bad season' time of year for them.
If you have a dehumidifier pull it out and plug it in, the dry air will keep any eggs from hatching (they'll dehydrate and die).
Have you SEEN any fleas? Sometimes spider bites can cause the same looking wounds. Usually cat/dog fleas don't find humans tasty at all. You can also make yourself unappetising to fleas by adding brewers yeast to your diet each day. They hate the taste of that in the blood and will stop biting, going elsewhere for nourishment.

Yes. You can bring fleas home from other people's pets, and even from the outside. I just had a flea problem in my old apartment, my husband brought them in from outside, and it was a mess. Make sure you don't use foggers around children or pets, even though the bottle may say it's safe. Some people have gotten rid of 99% of fleas by just vacuuming throughly. Make sure you empty the bag immediately after you vacuum, or if you have a bagless vacuum, put a flea collar (for cats or dogs) in the canister where your filter is. Google or Yahoo! Boric Acid too. They have a recipe for Boric Acid (you buy it from a pharmacy) that will kill pests without exposing yourself and your family to pesticides.

Yes it can. If you go to someones house you can get a flea on your clothes and they will jump off after they bite you and it will be where ever you stop at. I have had problems in the past with fleas at a house I lived at and where I went I would find a flea on me from the house and it would jump off of me after I was bitten and I had either was at a friends house or at work.
