Palmyrafin: I didn't ask to be born, so God shouldn't hold it over my head and expect something in return. That's just rude.

He spoke to george w., why doesn't he speak to the rest of us?

I don't know...
Maybe He will lead you into a religion, but without leading you into His religion, I don't know.

Well, it depends on whether or not you're sincere. It doesn't matter what your beliefs are as far as prayer is concerned. If you're a Christian and you only give lip service to God, He won't have any more time for you than if you're an Atheist and couldn't care less. But if you're an Atheist and you sincerely pray to God then, yes ... you will receive His guidance. Ironic, ain't it? That an Atheist with a sincere prayer can receive God's blessing AND be saved quicker than a Christian with lip service?

Good luck.

Just as much as those who believe. Nothing.

The act of praying is really for deep thought on a subject where you search your mind for an answer. Some times it comes; more often it doesn't. People who think that just because they see a bird or the phone rings at a certain time or that a tarot card can tell the future are just fooling themselves. Let them do what they want; you need to follow your heart.

That depends. Jesus described a perfect prayer as something like, "God, have mercy on me a sinner." He doesn't have a theological test to qualify you for answering your prayer.

But if you refuse to believe in God, it is hard to imagine how you actually pray. See the pragmatic paradox? A convinced atheist could not pray because he doesn't believe there is anyone to hear and answer him. Anyone who does pray believes, in some sense, that God exists and cares about him.

If god exists and gives guidance, then you very well might. Many religions, e.g., all forms of Christianity, believe that god choose, in his own mysterious ways, who to give faith to and when and how. The whole story of St. Paul for ex. is that he was an unbeliever who Jesus appeared to and converted him to a follower on the road to Damascus. You could be next :-)

Sure. But do be aware that sometimes that guidance takes a different form than you want it to. Pray for patience, and you won't get patience- you'll get opportunities to learn patience.

But if you didn't believe in God, why would you be praying?

Do you see how much of a hypocrite you are. You are so confused that you are praying to GOD and in the same breath saying you don't believe. But because you reached out to him he would give you guidance.

I'll answer this question honestly.
I was raised Christian, and as I grew up, I started to have doubts. I fought tooth and nail to save my "faith". Eventually, against my will, I just didn't believe. I was atheist, whether I liked it or not. I prayed ALL THE TIME for "God" to help me. I spent night after night saying, "Please, please, if you are out there...please help me... I only want to know the truth..." I was absolutely sincere. This went on for years.
I didn't hear squat. I didn't get squat. So if there IS a God out there, and God DID "guide" me, he guided me to atheism.

No. And if you're a theist and you pray to God, you won't get any guidance either. Prayer is just a superstition.

of course u will!!! :D

To God the title of 'atheist' doesnt mean anything.
He will never deny you the guidance u need. No matter what title people give you or you give yourself, God see's you exactly as what he created you, His child, and thats that.

So feel free to ask for guidance, believe me, he's more than willing to help you sort your life out.
