I am just curious, not trying to spark any debates, just wondering in complete honesty, no judgments from me or anything, I just would like to know some people's thoughts on what they truly believe happens after we die?

Good and important question - perhaps the most important that a person can ever ask. Depending on your religious calling, the purported answer can be very wide and diverse. HOwever one thing is for sure, the Christian bible says that human beings thinks about eternity (i.e. what happen to them affter death - their souls) because God has written into their hearts such things that they often wonder. Animals becuase they have no souls do not think or ask about such things. From the Christians' point of view, the answer is this - that it is ordained unto man that he dies once and then judgment. So watch out and make sure that a man does not die with hid sins unforgiven. How his sins can be fgorgiven is another question altogether. Pray you will find the answer soon.

Our bodies decay. Our spirits go either to heaven or hell. After the end of the world, you will observe that you have your body again, but perfect with no diseases or imperfections, if you are in heaven (I believe that this happens the moment you die, but that's a rather long, involved explanation; heaven is outside of time, so we are not bound by the time line anymore.) If we accepted Jesus as our Saviour, we go to heaven. If not, we go to hell, and yes, we would have a body there as well, I personally think. I believe that people who go to hell, choose to go there. They wouldn't want to be with God, because they hate Him.
What do I believe heaven is like? I think it is a warm and loving place where we experience joy. We get to spend "time" with God and with our loved ones who came to heaven, and we have many things to do. We can continue to explore the universe as it then is, and be involved in music and art, and many other worthwhile things. We will never be bored.
To go to heaven, you have to believe in Jesus. You can't earn your way, or even part of it. It is a free gift. Being a good person isn't enough, because none of us measures up to God's standard, which is perfection. We don't even live up to our personal standards.
As for people who have never heard, I think God makes a provision for them, but He wants us to tell them what they need to know, so He doesn't talk about what He does if they haven't heard from another human being, or read the Bible. I believe God knows (and has chosen) those who will accept Him, and He either puts them where they will hear the Gospel, or He makes sure they find out another way. I don't think God ever does an unjust thing like condemning a person for never having the opportunity. We all deserve hell, so everyone who gains heaven experiences God's mercy.

I believe that there is no stopping.
The soul just leaves the body.
Maybe it stays around, maybe it comes and goes.
You should really read the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
It paints a very interesting picture of the afterlife.

11 Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection-Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life.
12 And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care and sorrow.
13 And it shall come to pass that the spirits of the wicked, yea, who are evil- for behold they have no part nor portion of the spirit of the Lord; for they chose evil works rather than good; there-fore the spirit of the devil did enter into them, and take possession of their house- and these shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, and this because of their own iniquity, being led captive by the will of the devil.

Hello friend,
What a great question.
No matter what anyone says or believes, here is what happens when a person dies.
Everyone, regardless of nationality, gender, religious belief, etc. when death occurs, you go immediately before God Almighty Jesus Christ.
It doesn't matter if you believed in Him or said He didn't exist, you will still appear before His Majesty and only one thing will ultimately matter.
And that is this... while in this life, if you accepted Jesus as your Savior, you will enter into Paradise. But if you did not, you will enter into Hell.
Plain and simple.
To go to Heaven or to stay out of Hell is all determined on the answer you give to this question...
"What shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?"
Accept Him or reject Him.
There is no reason for you to go to Hell.
With your answer...you choose.

Since I believe what the Bible says is true, it says we go to Heaven if we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Anyone who doesn't believe will spend eternity in the lake of fire. God doesn't send us there, we make a choice. If you read the book of John, you will understand a lot about what it means to believe.

If you would like to some investigating read "Embraced by the Light" by Betty Eadie. She had a near death experience and describes the afterlife very beautiful, more than you can imagine where love is unconditionally bountiful.

I'm christian so I believe you are reincarnated through various lives to prove your worth then when god comes back you stand in atonement for your past crimes and the good you've done if you've maintaned a good life you pass into the everafter on your way to heaven if you've been evil you pass into hell for a length of time till you have paid back your crimes and then burn away to nothing.

The only clue I've ever heard is the one from the Bible.
"To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord."
To me as a believer, that means we instantly find ourselves in His presence. Whether we remain in His presence is a whole different issue.

Well, I believe that my soul will leave my body, and there will be angels here to guide me to Heaven. Up above, there will be a bright light, like a sun shining through the ceiling. I will follow that light with the Angels and end up in Heaven, where all my deceased friends, relatives and pets will be, waiting for me.
I have so many deceased pets and animals waiting for me up there it's gonna be a zoo. lol
Tootsie was a field mouse that I loved very much when I was a child. She'll be there, waiting for me...so she can crawl up my leg. :)
