Hi,
Point number one: You don't absolve your own sins, God does that through the priest/confessor.
Point two: In assuming you are speaking of a Catholic confession, I would say that one should always, at the end of the discussion, mention that they are sorry for these, and all my forgotten sins, sins of omission, etc. Then, when absolution is given, all that is forgiven.
Point three: If for some medical reason a person simply cannot remember, it's okay to say that to the confessor. "I'm sorry, I am afflicted with amnesia, and don't really remember what I might have to confess" please help me. You are not responsible for what you cannot remember, or for what you didn't realize was sinful upon the action.
Never, ever, deliberatly leave a sinful item out of your confession, as this is committing a sacriledge, which is a mortal sin, and you will receive no forgiveness until all is confessed, honestly and truly. The priest is the go between, and can't necessarily know your heart, but God can, and does.
Hope this helps.

They can't in many cases. A person would not be judged to hell for not being able to
be accountable. Accountability is the key here. A person of a mental illness, or even some physical illnesses, where they are heavily medicated, etc., they are simply not accountable, and they will not be held accountable.
Geez, what kind of God are they painting out there anyway? The other day I realized that alot of people actually believe that if a parent doesn't baptize a new baby, and that baby dies, the baby goes to hell.
There couldn't possibly be anything more
NON-BIBLICAL. Where do they get this
crap from? The Churches better hope its not coming from them; they are already in trouble according to the Scriptures.

In attempting to answer this question, I assume that the people you mentioned truly suffer from amnesia i.e. that they truly do not remember what they had done and they are not using it as an excuse. Then you talk about sins and forgiveness. The only peron who can forgive sins is God. That is why when Jesus said that he forgave the sins of the prople he dealt with at the time of his earthyly ministry, the Jews were thoroughly convinved that Jesus blasphemed - for no human being can forgive the sin of others and that is still so today. Now I am talking of humans delaing with God. Sure you can forgive me for doing a wrong to you but that is only between you and I. So far as between God and man, it is with God. Now God is only God if he is all knowing i.e. omiscience. That means that no one can come before God and say that I am suffering from amnesia when he is not. God knows you and I through and through. On that footing, I am sure that since our God is one that is loving and forgiving (and of course, because of his perfection and holiness, he will at the same time require punishment for sin save of those who are truly repentent and covered by the righteousness of Christ) he will clearly forgive the sins of those who because of amnesia failed to seek God' s forgiveness. It goes without saying that there is no forgiveness for those who refuse to seek forgiveness but hide them. A true child of God will strive to be right with his conscience in his dealing with his God.

Accepting Jesus has to do with the spirit man. The Holy Spirit communicates through the spirit first, because this is who we really are. Our bodies are an encasement of our spirit being. So, even though someone has amnesia they can still understand the things of God ask for forgiveness and be with Him after they die.

You are correct that confession is a precondition for forgiveness. However, no one, with amnesia or normal, is going to remember every minor sin. There are simply too many in a long life.
Sins we commit injure our relationship with God. As they become apparent to us, we ask God for forgiveness. That's all he expects.

All have sinned we have a sin nature. When we seek God we receive a gift of faith. Through faith comes revelation. Whether or not you have a memory of a your past your present nature is still a sin nature. There no catch only a merciful God who paid the penalty of death for all sin for those who accept the atonement.

Do you have amnesia? Then what is your excuse for not repenting of YOUR sins?
Do you count yourself unworthy of eternal life?\
"For God sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved". - (Jn. 3:17)

someone gives them a cue card with all the sins that people are likely to commit, and they confess to everything just to be on the safe side.

Hello, Mr. Smith. I'm Mr. Miller, your local pastor. Now, you have suffered a blunt trauma, and now have amnesia. Now, I'm going to list some sins, and you must apologize for them so you are not doomed to hell.
Rape.
What's that?
No, sir, you're supposed to say "I am sorry for committing the act of rape. Please wash my sins away."
Oh. I am sorry for commiting the act of rape. Please wash my sins away.
Excellent. However, for committing rape in the first place, you are now under arrest. Hands behind your back.
