It could have been a panic attack or something else, like some kind of electrolyte imbalance or low blood sugar.

It would be a good idea to talk to a doctor about it.

I have the same problem. Have you ever had a panic attack while driving? The funny thing about panic attacks is that worrying about them happening really brings on most of the anxiety that causes the panic attack to actually happen. I have depersonalization.. its a disorder where when your mind feels threatened it creates an illusion that you are not in your body and what is happening isn't really happening. This causes anxiety as well as physical symptoms such as dizziness and nausea for me. Do some research on it. If it is seriously affecting your life I would consider therapy, it is helping me. Whenever I am on the road I get these feelings like im going to get lost or I'm going the wrong way or I'm going to get into an accident. My therapist thinks its possible that my fear of loss of control behind the wheel mirrors my fear of loss of control of my life and my mind. Try not to drive alone and try to relax and keep your mind off of it.. listen to music that you like. I hope this helps, good luck.

I think most people get this, its just because too much blood rushes to the head, kind've like when you hung upside down for too long when you were younger, it feels your heart is beating faster because you are more aware of your pulse. Usually it goes away if you have a drink of water and sit down, and good way is to sit with your head between your knees, but only for a while. I dont think its anything to worry about, but I'm not a medicle expert. =D
