For example:
If I believe I am someone who can get through medical school, I can, right?

If I believe I can learn to do a crossword puzzle in 30 minutes, I can probably do it, right?

The difference is motivation, and self-confidence. If I believe I can get through med school, I will, because I'll have the confidence to believe I can. Same with the crossword puzzle.

So... do you think that people who are "saved" through religion actually are, because they believe they are?

Bare with me, but being "saved" is something that pertains to many very different faiths. (So if you can't look at it from the perspective of your own religion, look at it from the perspective of a different one so you can get my point. )

Do you think that people who believe they are saved through religion lead happier lives because they believe it? Are they saving themselves from themselves? From negativity? What are your thoughts?

Only if you don't think you are who you think other people think you are... why does one he or she think she or he is a doctor, nurse to be? Others have convinced one is 'saved'... her or him think her or him is what others think of her or him. is (saved).. and so on. And, no matter the schematics... All is Love, Love is God... nothing need saving.

If I believe I am God, does it mean I am God. No. It means I am deluded. People who believe they are saved live in a fool's paradise. Some people get peace of mind from belonging to a group, some people, through fear of death, gain peace of mind from belonging to a religious group. Belief is one thing, Truth may be something entirely different. A dream world is one thing and Reality may be something entirely different.

People are saved from a life of sin. Call it anything: mistakes, faults, bad decisions, whatever. It is what it is: sin. And sin wrecks your life no matter what you call it. A person saved from a life of sin or mistakes, failures, bad decisions, etc. is definitely happier than those who aren't. There is a lot of difference in 'having fun' and 'happiness'.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

I used to not think this but I read this book called what you say is what you get, Don Gossett - and it used lots of convincing SCriptures, and I Really do think it's fairly true. After my wife died I went to some grief support groups - a number of the spouses of people that had died mentioned that their spoue had said something about dying or joked about not living to such and such an age or whatever, and then things happened and they were dead.

you have to imagine things in your mind before they can become reality.

I do think that's true to a degree.

like when a person is diagnosed as mentally ill, the actual problem could be one of many things, but if that person labels themself as mentally ill, and views themself as mentally ill, then they won't ever function normally until they change their thinking.

it's true.
