I agree with you. I think it is emotion because a lot of the atheists and agnostics make statements that are rather rude. I personally just don't respond to questions that upset me. I don't like seeing Jesus mocked, but I just move on. I want serious questions concerning faith and Christianity.
I do admit to acting poorly at times when I first started here on yahoo, but I have since not let emotion get the better of me.

I agree that some Christians are neither wise as serpents nor innocent as doves. We have an occasional preacher on campus who uses all the tactics you mention.
On the other hand, Jesus talked about the dangers of hell, and he used some pretty strong language in reference to the Pharisees, e.g., whitewashed tombstones. There is a danger in being so insipid and so unwilling to call sin by its proper name that a Christian becomes completely ineffective in advancing the kingdom of God.
We are called to love the sinner, but to hate the sin that is destroying the sinner.

I know what you're trying to say, however, there comes a point where being too tolerant is just as bad. Even Jesus was willing to get angry at people (righteous anger) at times. But you have to balance this with telling people the truth + good news. Some people just won't change though no matter what you do.
I think my point is, that we should never get really angry just for the sake of getting angry, I've posted a couple of posts so far on Yahoo Answers myself that could be considered quite intolerant, but I consider at least one of them fair examples of righteous anger - my fallen nature will cause me to sometimes confuse righteous anger with human anger however, and I openly admit this.
Like I said though, being too tolerant is just as bad. Because then they'll think that what they're doing is okay and you love them and they're just going to heaven with everyone else because their actions are acceptable. I hope what I said makes some manner of sense.

Oh yes! I feel the same shame and embarrassment I am Catholic (old school) and I find some of these remarks not only rude but very unchristian. If you read the new testament I do not think Christ had the attitude these folks have. And because he did not have that attitude his work has lived on through the ages.

I most definitely do feel the same as you. I cringe every time I see the intolerance of the so-called Christian posters on here. If someone doesn't agree with homosexuality, why are they constantly posting answers on this section of Yahoo! Answers? Also, Jesus' life and ministry was all about loving one's neighbor and not judging lest we be judged. It is sad to see how this has been misconstrued and used to perpetuate hate, fear, and intolerance.

you're properly suited in many your statements. Christians must be following in Jesus' footsteps via fact even the be conscious "christian" skill little christ. I additionally understand what you advise once you assert you notice Christians as being no longer a stable mirrored image of their ideals. Mahatma Gandhi suggested "i may be a Christian if it weren't for Christians." Too frequently Christians are extra pondering the speck in yet another's eye quite than the log of their own. some issues i do no longer trust you, whether, are those: you assert you think of Jesus replaced right into a great guy with surprising recommendations. properly, Jesus claimed to be the Christ, the salvation for our souls, God interior the flesh. those statements do no longer probable depart you room to declare he replaced right into a "surprising guy". He replaced into the two a liar, out of His ideas or who He suggested He replaced into which replaced into "the way, the certainty and the existence". He claimed in John 14 that "no person ought to come to the father yet by using Him." this is "yet by using Him" which skill no longer Buddism, Hinduism, Allah, Islam or the different faith. In John 3:18 He says that "he that believes in Him isn't condemned yet he that believes no longer is condemned already via fact he has no longer believed interior the Son of God." Does this nonetheless sound like a "surprising guy." It sounds extra like he's looking you to %: have self assurance in Him and His sacrificial demise on the circulate to your sins unto salvation or have self assurance no longer and be condemned. this is the reason Christians say it is your decision.

You must understand that some people do this on purpose pretending to be Christians. So? While some think they are Christians & they aren't.
I can discern a Christian answer. And they don't make Christianity look bad.
You are exagerating & saying 'most'. No Christian will condemn or can condemn anyone to hell. But, just like Jesus warned of hell, so will Christians warn of hell.

Every time I preach from door to door we follow the example that Jesus set, not bash people but make people think about the future and how the bible can help them to live better life.

Most of the Christians who post here have no idea how to act as their god would have them act. It's really pretty pathetic.
I wonder if they realize how many people they drive away from their religion with their hypocritical ranting.

I can say I am a christian
christians are intollerant, elitist, bigots just like Paul, the 1st christian of his own invented religion
neighbors immitate Jesus, a regular person who just embraced life and sought change where he saw fit, and unlike most, had marginal success in life, after death his goals and story was hijacked
