There are several animated videos about braces, why you need them, how they are applied, and how to care for them.

Don't be scared, I put them on 3-4 times a day. No needles have to be used and you don't need to be numbed. Your teeth will likely have the surface cleaned or a protective covering will be brushed on. To do this and to keep your teeth dry, a mouthpiece will be put in that keeps your lips away from your teeth. Sometimes preparing the teeth and the cement might taste slightly sour but you can rinse it out before your teeth are dried for the braces. The braces are usually on individual holders and a very small amount of cement is placed on the back of the brace. The orthodontist will very gentally place the brace on your tooth and wipe away any excess cement. This will be done for each tooth that will have a brace. Sometimes, metal bands or circles will be cemented on your molars. After the braces are placed, a curing light or a blue light will be shined on your teeth. The light causes a chemical reaction that hardens the cement. A wire will be fitted on the braces and is usually held in place by small elastic circles or OO'S. You may want to take whatever you take for aches and pain about an hour before your appointment. If you take 200mg of Ibuprophen, you can double it and take it every 6-8 hours. It usually takes 24 hours for the Ibuprophen to get into your bloodstream and continue taking it for 2-3 days, only if needed. There is also someting called Brace Aid you might want to check out. May sure you get plenty of wax. You'll need this so the wires won't aggravate inside your mouth while you sleep--if you sleep on your sides. It takes about a week for the insides of your mouth and lips to toughen-up and get used to the braces. That's about all there is to it. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Don't worry- nothing is scary about getting braces- but just to warn you (NOT TO SCARE YOU) it will feel painful for a couple of days, and everytime you get them tightened (a new wire) it will feel uncomofrtable.
It will normally take about an hour to put the braces on depending on your orthodontist but they put this thing in your mouth that keeps your tongue away from your teeth and so they put the glue on then the brackets, then the wire, and then you might be able to pick out the colors that go on your brackets (depending on your orthodontist)- then your Orthodontist will give you more info on your braces and clear up any questions you have
good luck with your braces and i hope i helped!!

Well they hold your mouth open for like 2 hours with a big plasic thing. They put alot of cotton in your mouth and it's in there forever. Then they start putting on the brackets. When there done with that, they take out the plastic thing and have you brush your teeth to get excess glue off (my ortho had me). Your mouth will be crusty from the glue cuz there not too careful of only getting it on your teeth, and around your mouth will be super red and it will hurt. they'll make sure all the brackets are on tight and ready, they they'll put the wire in and then the colored bands to hold the wire on. It sucks. but the end result is amazing. I only had mine on for about a year and a half. almost 2
