My kids don't eat much, but a great lunch for then is "Snack food" chopped apple, grapes, raisins and any kind of picky food I can find.

Why on earth can your daughter's dad (and his mum) NOT cook for her? That is just neglect. Why should you have to leave all the meals for him? Surely, they will be eating something themselves? Can't your daughter have some of that? I'm amazed. If you don't give her a packed meal, then what will they do? Starve her?
Anyway, if you choose to fit in with their laziness, then I would try cooked pasta, mixed in with a sauce of some sort (try pesto, or a ragu sauce). Or, cooked rice with something (how about a risotto?). Does she eat fruit and veg - how about veg sticks, and some fruit like strawberries? Bread sticks? You don't say how old she is, so it's hard to recommend something. Depends on a child's age and preferences. There's some ideas here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/mostof_childrenlunchbox.shtml
Good luck!

If she has a good breakfast and there's a substantial tea already prepared then I am sure fruit and yogurt will see her through nicely. Bananas are good for bulk and slow energy release. Won't his mum have something she could eat or at the least bread she could make a sandwich with? I am sure she won't see her grandchild go hungry.

I have to send food up to my ex-partner whenever he has my 3 year old for the day. I ask her, she usually says veg soup or ravioli - i also include extras including cucumber, cherry tomatoes, slice of cheese, pitta bread, followed by yoghurt and fruit. At least with a tin of something all he has to do is open it and heat, then serve. My daughter loves these lunches - she calls them her picnic lunch - and she thinks that daddy has prepared it all for her!! Crackers are another good one, again served with salad and other bits and pieces.

Leave him to it, some how he will cope and so will she, he probably does know how to do things but it sounds like you do everything so he has conveniently forgotten, remember he did survive before you so I would let him get on with it, your daughter will teach him a lesson of two, because if she is hungry and he doesn't feed her, she will give him hell (at least I hope she will)

Soup is a good thing for her to eat and all you do is heat and add water.
