I know a place called Topanga Park it's located somewhere in Malibu. I dont remember clearly but i think u have to take a Sunset street ( not Sunset Blvd ok!!)to go there.
In this place, you walk up the hills a while and you will have a sooo beautiful view of the ocean, u dont have building obstructions...perfect to catch the sunset in a picture!!!

Griffith Observatory or the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, it has public beach access.

Along Pacific Coast Hwy, you'll find very nice ocean view along there!
Go in the little street (sorry, but i forgot the name) but it's by the Las Brisas Restaurant, and the ocean view is beautiful there, especially during sunset!

Long beach, and cabrillo beach have great clear views with no buildings etc.
