It cost us about $200 to get our cat spayed and vaccinated. That included an overall physical exam as well.......If you get a cat or kitten from the shelter though they are already spayed and vaccinated. It'll be about $100 for a shelter cat. They need homes too!! =)

Your local vets have a standard pricing which you can get just by calling them and talking to the receptionist.
You'll get an exam for probably $35, the rabies shot here runs $15, the 3 in 1 distemper shot is $18 and spaying a female cat runs about $125. I'm in the Midwest, the west coast is usually higher priced.
There are lower cost options, you can ask the vets offices (call several of them in the phone book) about any low cost options they can point you towards. Free cats aren't free. Ask me about my $3,000 cat.... LOL

$300 for all of it? No. You are wanting to accept a pet into your home and even though you may adopt one free, medical bills are not. Cats and dogs need vax yearly as an adult, and when you get a kitten, you will be seeing the vet every three weeks til the kitten is 6 mths old. Basic vaccines are distemper and rabies, but you also have to get a feline leukemia/aids test, fecal check for intestinal worms and a couple of dewormers. Plus the neuter at around 4-6mths.
If you adopt a kitten from the shelter, they should already have the cat spayed or neutered prior to adoption, so that is one less medical expense you need to worry about.
Please, this a life, even if it's not human, and it will still need medical care. It's not just an animal to pet when you feel like it. make sure you are financial able to care for this pet.

It all depends. I looked through the paper and found a vet that was having a deal for the end of 2006. Shots and fixing was $20.06 each. It was still around $250 per a cat, but we also had them knock out our cats. It wasn't too bad. Also the vet didn't tell us this but if you have more than 1 cat (getting fixed or not) put them in different rooms for the first day. It seems to make them mad.Good luck :-}

If you are talking about US dollars then your estimate may be high. Neutering a tom cat is easy to do so most vets don't charge much for the procedure. The shots are going to be somewhere around $100. The best thing to do is to call some of the vets in your area and get a few estimates.

Depends, in part, on whether the cat is male or female, and in part on where you live. The answers are extremely variable.
If you go to an animal shelter or rescue, their adoption fee will include a vet check, shots, and neutering. Fees vary wildly, so call around. Here, I could adopt a cat from Animal Control for $80. Rescues, because they are self-supporting and no-kill, tend to cost more.

I would have to say you are pretty close if not over a little depending on where you take the cat to get it done,some vets are a rip off.I personally paid around 200 for my cat inclusing the office visit and exam.

That's about right. My cat is 3 now but having her spayed and her first round of shots was right around $300 as I recall.

Hi there, I don't know where you live but I'm in Vancouver B.C. I just had my kitten fixed and she was a female. It cost me $55.00 to have her fixed and before they would fix her she had to have her shots and they cost me $25.00. I am low income and I have a great vet who goes out of his way to help you out. Male cats are much cheaper to fix than females too. Also, He will have to get his shots and then wait two weeks until he can get fixed. Please do it tho, there are just to many un fixed animals running around and nobody to take care of the poor kittens. Good luck I hope you find a good deal.
