I am planning a surprise party and left a phone number and an email address to RSVP to. The problem is that the email address was incorrect and was put on the invites. Once I realized they they had already been mailed. I assumed that if they e-mailed the incorrect address the e-mail would not go through and they would receive a failure notice, therefore they would get the clue to give me a phone call. I've only received one phone call as an RSVP and the party is in a week! Do you think people have been e-mailing the incorrect e-mail address? or is it typical for people to ignore the RSVP at the bottom of the invitation?

It's rude not to RSVP. Since you put the wrong email address on the invitation, it's up to you to fix the problem. The appropriate way is to call everyone, explain your mistake, and ask if they are coming.

Some people just don't have the courtesy to respond to an RSVP. In the climate of today, I wonder if people even know what it is? But there may be another reason. Just because the email address is incorrect to reach you does not mean that it is not reaching someone, somewhere. The people responding by email may not be getting a failure notice because the email address, as printed, may belong to someone else, who wonders why he/she is getting emails saying people are coming to a party he/she is not having. Did you ask the person who responded by telephone if they had tried the email?

Unfortunately many people ignore the RSVP on invitations. I would contact each person you haven't heard from to find out if they were coming, and tell them that since they haven't RSVP'd yet you want an answer. Hopefully if enough people follow up with their guests, people will start to realize how rude they are being.

Many people dont RSVP because they dont really think about it.I planned a party and it was really close to the date and only one person said they were coming. So I called or asked everyone were they coming. So my advice is to ask everyone are they coming to the party!
Good Luck!!

I had a wedding with 100% correct info and a SASE and people did not take the 30 seconds to drop it in the mail... some people are just not considerate.

you are responsible for your own misinformation. You should have been prompt in informing each and everyone of the mishaps and given them the appropriate information.
It was your suggestions of what email to use, they are trusting you.
