I want to dye the ends of my hair bright pink - if they get too damaged I can cut them off :) - but am a bit confused. I thought you had to mix peroxide with powder bleach, but one website says you can mix peroxide with shampoo. Will this work, or do I need the bleach? Also, should I use 30 or 40 vol peroxide (my hair is currently a medium brown I guess, dyed it purple ages ago but it faded, naturally dark brown, but will dye it darker purple again before I bleach the ends)? Sorry it sounds so confusing! Thanks.

thanks - yeah that's why i'm only doing the ends, if they end up like straw i'll get my hair cut. i'm getting special effects dye so there will be plenty left over for when it fades.

ok thanks, i'll get the 30 then :)

you NEED bleach in order to get to the pale yellow stage (which is the stage you need to get to in order to use the pink colour) peroxide alone just won't work. peroxide is a developer, it carries bleach and colour into the hairshafts or without it then colours could not be developed inside the hairshafts properly and so would wash straight off as soon as it got wet. think of peroxide as a "carrier" if you like. as for bleaches i will suggest to you to use a white bleach as blue ones can fool unprofessionals into thinking the hair is lighter than it actually is hence why so many people wash it off too soon and end up with ginger hair. you can use ANY vol peroxide, the strength isn't relevant to the outcome of your hair, although the higher the vol you go then the faster it will lighten but the more damage you will accumulate. 40vol is usually used for highlighting (it can't touch the scalp though as it will most likely burn) but if it is just for the ends of your hair then it should be okay.

You Will Need The Powder Bleach And 40 Vol. Peroxide And Toner In A White Blonde (Most Hair Does Not Bleach To White- The Protein Hair Is Made of Is NATURALLY Pale Yellow)

If you use just the peroxide it will lighten your hair a little bit. If you mix it with the bleach you will strip your hair of the color, if you want a more vibrant pink, use the bleach. And before you dye your hair, put a heavy conditioner on where you are planning to bleach. If you do that you will not have to strip both colors out of your hair( natural color and dye) so it takes less time and less damage to your hair. I would go with a 30 vol. peroxide.
Hope that helps.

Well, peroxide with shampoo will only lighten your hair a bit, while peroxide withe bleach will burn your hair. I think it would be better to buy the hair bleaching set than risk it falling off! Bleach is permanent, but when you dye over it there's a chance the color will fade. And both of them can turn your hair to straw when put together! Personally I would go to a salon if you want the best effect

I would recommend you buy the powder bleach and peroxide you can really use any of the vol but if you buy the 40 vol it will do it faster but may cause more damage to your hair (i burnt mine off with doing it :( ) but you would be better off getting the 30 vol and just leaving it on for a tiny bit longer as it wont do as must damage to your hair.

i hope you know that even if you do bleach your hair blonde hoping that the pink will stay - it will still fade away just like the purple did in you hair. i had my tips all different colors and i had to retouch them every week so be prepared for lots of maintenance!

i suggest u go to a salon to have it lighten. once the stylist has lifted the blonde as light as it needs to for the pink to . than u can just buy the pink colour n keep applying it when it starts to fade. fudge are good bright colours.
