It probably stems from alot of people thinking that Jr. had everything handed to him on a silver platter and that he didn't have to work for it. Which is so totally wrong!!!! Jr. has payed his dues many times over and them some. Because he is having a bad year they say he isn't a good driver but if someone Else's favorite driver was having such a year it would be a different story.
People have to hate someone so they just chose Jr. which he totally doesn't deserve!!!!
He isn't a dirty driver, he shows respect, he is a savvy business man and a good role model, more so than some other drivers I wont name.

Junior had to grow up quickly. When his father died unexpectedly, there was a huge set of shoes that needed to be filled, and Junior was the one the fans latched onto to solve that problem. While it's almost certain that the main reason he is so popular is because of who his father was, that is also almost certainly the reason many fans don't like him as well. Still, in his brief career, he has grown considerably, and has become his own man, trying to step out from the shadow his father will always cast over him. He has won the Most Popular Driver Award 4 times, an award his father didn't win until after he died. Whether or not he'll ever match Bill Elliott, who won the award 16 times, remains to be seen, but as for now, Junior is definitely the overall fan favorite.

people might hate him because of his fan base that says that he is the greatest driver ever but that is not how it is at all. Dale Jr. is not the greatest driver ever that was. There are more than one great driver for ex. bobby labonty, Benny, buckshot Jones, Richard "the King" petty and Dale Sn. That is just five, i am pretty sure there are more than that out there from what i here from my mother and father. so see he is not the only one who has been named the greatest driver ever.
there can be more than one greatest driver ever, and to many people their driver is just that .

Junior is a great guy; sadly his Fans have been so militantly abusive and destructive that it has painted him in a bad light with those who do not know NASCAR. In fact the behvior of Junior Fans has continuely placed NASCAR in a bad light.
Case in point; the throwing of beer cans onto a track. Everytime that happens it hits the news and those not familiar with NASCAR think we're all a pack of inbred Rednecks because of it. Those who do like NASCAR but don't like Junior see such behavior as being that Junior Fans are a pack of inbred Rednecks.
The fact is only 10% of Junior Fans act over the top with such overzealous militant hatred. Sadly that 10% influence 95% of people's perceptions of Dale Jr.; Dale Jr. Fans, and NASCAR. That is why some people hate Junior and that is very unfortunate.

I've met Dale Jr several times, its not him that people hate its just some of his wild redneck Jr Nation fans they are a breed of their own, just go to talladega. He is a great guy, very smart, business savy, and a great good ole southern boy, he is not as aggressive as his dad on the track, his dad had better equipment at RCR...People will see a different Dale Jr next yr, with better equipment, better team. He is one of the nicest drivers you could ever meet... I just hope Jeff Gordon fan don't start hating him next year, when Jr beats Jeff out in some races....I do plan to go to talladega for the spring race next yr, I hope Jr Nation will behave... After all its Jr Nation,and all those Rednecks, that most people really really hate...not Dale Jr the driver..

MAYBE IT'S BECAuse some people don't fall into all the hype. your moronic jr fans, well not all of you are moronic. just the majority. gave him the championship years ago. and he still hasn't gotten close hell he didn't even make to the chase last yr and might not make it this year. ya i know you will say it's because of his step mom. jr an't nothing but another kyle petty. just has had better cars. everything he has got he got from daddy.

I think people are just annoyed that he gets so much coverage than he really deserves. Which I gotta say, even as a Jr fan, is true. But in that sense, its also not Jr's fault directly. I mean, it's not like he asked to be thrown into the spotlight. That blame goes to the journalist and media types squarely.

I doubt too many people hate Jr.
There just is a LOT of focus on Jr moving, changing #s and Sponsors.
Why is Silly Season's focus on just Jr now? Where are the where is JJ or Mayfield going questions?

It's not so much Junior as his whiny fans that are hated. Junior is OK just leave the rowdy rednecks at the door!
