Sure. It's a great old camera.
It would be a good idea to have a camera repair person check it out - to see if the shutter speeds are still accurate, to make sure the aperture opens without hanging and to make sure there's no mold inside the lens.
The most important thing to watch out for with a camera this old is light leaks around the camera back. There's a rubber seal around the edge of the body that the back fits snugly into when it's closed. ... But this rubber dies and dries out over time, flakes off, leaves gaps where light can leak in.
Check this out yourself. Simply open the camera back and run the tip of your finger around the inside edge where the back meets the body. If black gooy rubber comes off on your finger, get the seal replaced by a repair person.
This is almost certain to be the case if the camera's been stored away for a long time.
So do this BEFORE you start spending your money on film ... because, if you don't, every time you open and close the back to reload film dead rubber will get dislodged and get on your film, the camera's shutter ... everywhere it should NOT be.
Check local listings to find a REAL camera repair shop. They're rare these day, but you might get lucky.
DO NOT let some amateur try to do this! This is NOT a job for the Geek Squad!
Good luck! BTW, the SRT 101 was made around 1968-1970.

The Minolta SRT 101 was a great camera.
You might need to get it cleaned, and you should have this done professionally, but as long as the film compartment is still light tight and the lens isn't optically damaged, you should still be able to get some great pictures with it.
Remember, a camera is only a tool. An optically perfect camera is still only as good as the person using it.

A camera is just a light-tight box with film in it and a shutter to keep the film from getting exposed to light most of the time.
As long as there is a good lens in front of it, and Minolta Rokkors are excellent, the camera is still capable of producing excellent results.
Use it and be happy.

Excellent camera. I agree it should be given a complete CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) and the light seals should be replaced. Check with garryscamera@yahoo.com. He usually charges $45 + $8 shipping and has a 2 week turn around. He has done a CLA on 6 of my cameras this year and I'm very pleased with his work.

One of my friends has that smae camera and his pictures turned out AMAZING. as long as you take care of the equipment and know how to use everything properly then you will get amazing pictures yourself. It would also be a good idea (if you dont already have it) try to find a manual that goes with that camera to know all of its info.
hope this helps for you.
