What's not to love about Jesus. What an awesome example of how we should live and treat others. What do you think? Please be respectful of my savior.

I agree. I am reading the New Testament, and I found the Sermon on the Mount very moving. If we all lived the way Jesus taught us, there would be peace on earth. So, when anyone asks how to achieve peace, all you gotta do is tell them to read the New Testament. Even people who are atheist and agnostic should live by His teachings because that is how they would want others to treat them. There is no reason why even the most unbelieving of people should reject and ridicule His teachings because what Jesus taught can be applied to everyone. Jesus is great.

All of those adjectives that you used are noble human traits. What i find hard to believe about Jesus is his entire story as it is almost a carbon copy of older Sun Gods stories, Horus from Egypt and Mythra from Persia in particular. The fact that the Sun in our Sky adheres directly to certain "Christian" dates leads me to believe that the Christ story and those before it were actually based on observations of the stars and the Sun. By all means though if you actually live a life by the values that you mention then keep it up.

I respectfully disagree with you about the afore mentioned qualities of your savior. It is written in his own words on more than one occasion that he is not accepting of all, or even respectful of all. One needs look no further than Matthew 10:34 or Matthew 15:26 to observe this. http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=Matthew+10:34&version=9

I wish that your savior did set the example that you speak of, because if he did then your fellow followers would be much more inclined to imitate such characteristics. But instead, many choose to behave as if they don't have to be accepting of others and are right to degrade, belittle, and act down-right intollerantly of those that don't measure up to their own perceived standard of righteousness.

Also, please be mindful that there was no fiery hell in Judaism. There was in Greek & Roman mythology, as well as in some Pagan religions, but not in Judaism, of whom Jesus is claimed to be The Messiah.

The Jewish Messiah was to bring peace to all the earth, but in Jesus' own words that is not what he came to do.

Kaliko, I like you, and I appreciate your efforts to encourage others to do good, as I also try to encourage the same. But please, remove the plank from your own eye before telling your brother about the speck in his. One can learn everything you mentioned without your specific religion. Ghandi was one such example, and there are plenty of others of which I try to emulate by being true to myself and those around me.

I agree. Jesus possessed all of those qualities that you mentioned and was truly an inspiring human being and an example to us all. I still don't believe in god, though, so therefore I'll just stress the "human being" part. Is that disrespectful to Jesus? I don't see how...

Yes but from true life experience you should know that perfection is a human illusion, so does someone so perfect exist? do you really think that's possible? I'm not questioning your beliefs I'm just asking rhetorical questions that might lead you to an answer.

Jesus did not compromise the truth, suffering unto death.

With the help of the comforter neither will I......EVER!

Call it what you will, but you can take your love and tolerate everybody, fluffy, long haired, hippy looking, plastic Jesus and please, keep him.

Mine is Lord and King, and will not tolerate dissension.

Psalm 89:1
[ A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. ] I will sing of the LORD's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

His love endures forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

You see only the nice things that your church leaders want you to see.

The birth of Jesus was heralded with "Peace on Earth," yet Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to send peace: I came not to send peace but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) "He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." (Luke 22:36) "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27. In a parable, but spoken of favorably.)

I think we need to remember to be as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves. In other words, understand and use wisdom but answer softly.
