I'd say don't do it. I've been smoking since I was 16 and am now 56. I am one of those ones who cannot quit smoking, which is interesting when you know that I put down some rather hard drugs about 20 years ago without so much as a single jones. Anyway, the branded cigarettes are loading with chemicals that cause a sub-addiction they never talk about. Here is what I mean by that...about 3 years ago I switched to Natural American Spirit roll your own tobacco, which is just tobacco with no chemicals or additives. For the first week my body was just screaming for Marlboro 100's no matter how many of the plain tobacco cigarettes I smoked. Earlier this week I bought a different blend of tobacco from Natural American Spirit to try out. I was expecting my body to go through that addiction/withdrawl, but it never happened. So that just proved to me that the cigarette companies are in fact putting some very strong things in cigarettes.
If you are going to smoke, buy tobacco that is just tobacco and nothing else. But really, don't even start if you haven't yet.
PS...Not everyone who smokes gets cancer. Some people who never smoke at all get lung cancer. That's for the sheeple who are going to tout the party line about all the "what could happen".

As a previous smoker for 34 yrs, I was finally forced to quit. It got to the point that my chest was hurting, I was coughing all of the time and couldn't breath.
I quit over a year ago. I am doing a lot better but still have a nagging cough. There was a lot of damage to my entire respiratory system. Time will tell how far my body will heal itself. Some of the damage may never heal.
My dad died from the nasty little critter a few years ago.
I started exactly the same way will if you don't reach over and toss that pack in the trash. One pack will lead to another, then 2 packs a day, and maybe more.
Pros: None for yourself, only your money going to the taxes and tobacco companies.
Cons: If you want to suffer and die a miserable death, then have at it.

Pro: It does reduce stress and is a stimulant and appetite suppressant.
Cons: Once you get addicted you will need to smoke or else you will be stressed and miserable. And of course it causes cancer, lung problems, premature aging, etc. After not too long, the pros go away, because you will need the cigs in order to feel normal. Oh, and you will have to spend a lot of time outside in the cold (or heat) because most public indoor places do not allow smoking (same with friends' houses).
If you want to relieve stress and boost your metabolism without clogging your lungs with smoke particles, try exercise. It works a lot better.

Drink tea and be patient. Weed is not physically addictive, so you won't have the same fits and depression harder drugs cause. It'll take about 2 or 3 days to get over it, but in comparison to other hard drugs it's pretty easy. Just find something like tea to calm you down, and do things that help you forget and you will be fine. Like I said, it's not physically addictive (like booze) so it should be really easy to quit. I used to be a heavy smoker, I've quit now for one month (after smoking regularly for over 8 years) because I cannot afford it. I'm doing fine, no problems quitting. I just drink tea and forget about it. I would rather eat and pay rent then get high at this point, but it's nice to know nothing serious will come from smoking a joint with friends. No addiction is nice.

3. Increases metabolism by raising the level of stress hormone in your system - higher heart rate and blood pressure.
4. Reduces appetite (a couple of mechanisms here including making food taste bland)
Cons
1. Prematurely ages you.
2. Predisposes you to heart disease.
3. Predisposes you to stroke
4. Predisposes you to anuerysm
5. Predisposes you to chronic back pain
6. Prediposes you to a variety of cancers including lung, colon, breast, and bladder cancers.
7. Predisposes you to chronic heart burn.
8. Predisposes you to sleep apnea.
9. Predisposes you to vascular disease which can lead significant leg pain with walking and erectile dysfunction.
10. Reduces your lung capacity with substantial risk of chronic obstructive respiratory disease for you and anyone who lives with you.
11. Costs a lot of money over a lifetime.
12. Makes your breath and clothes stink.
13. Ruins your sense of smell and taste.
14. Burn holes in clothes and furniture.
Often the problem is that all of these things happen gradually over a very long time. This comes into play two ways -
1. People start smoking and early in the game, say, see I'm fine.
2. People smoke over a long period don't themselves see a change until a bad thing "suddenly" happens. People who don't smoke see the difference though.

Pros: Pleasant soothing sensation.
Cons: Increases the posibility of lung and bladder cancer.
And if you believe you will be able to stop before you develop a cancer, contact anyone of the people that have asked for a way to stop smoking.
Now with the analysis. DONT SMOKE.

The pros are few, You might like it, once you get used to it, but then you're hooked.
The cons are huge, your breath smalls very bad, and this is the smallest one. you're subject to get all kinds of sickness, cancer, all kinds of lung troubles. Smoking will kill you in the long run, but not before it puts you through hell and back.
that's and alcohol drinking is the two top items, the doctors ask, are you using. Don't start, because it you do, you're be very sorry.

I have no idea what a pro for smoking would be. Yes it does boost your metabolism but in return you cannot walk a flight of stairs , your BP rises. If you need a stress reliever, try meditation or yoga, its better for your health. If you don't believe me, go google lung cancer pictures and see for yourself.
Go throw that pack of cigs in the trash. When you are older and are emphysema free and can breathe, you will be glad you did .

Real story here: One evening, a very pretty ticket taker at a theater who had long been an object of my juvenile lust agreed to let me drive her home. We sat in a porch swing 'neath a full moon, all very romantic.
She smoked a cigarette as the conversation became increasingly sexually provocative. Then we went for a real wet lip-lock and it was over. When I tasted that damned cigarette, I suddenly recalled that my mom wanted the car.
It's something to think about.
