Awww Blue,
You're making me homesick........
Just a pot noodle for me. I'm too far from my family for the traditional get together.
seems pointless doing a Sunday roast for one.
I'm usually full after the half time pie ( and late night ) take away on the Saturday anyway. LOL.
TTFN.

just woke up from my post sunday lunch nap. an important part of any traditional sunday lunch is the 1/2 hour on the settee nap. today was roast beef, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes and all the veg, followed by cherry crumble with cream. not a better meal in the world.

We do usually have a trad meal on a sunday, but in the summer we tend to have a Roast Chicken and have salad, potato salad and crusty rolls. My kids love my homemade quiche so I would also do that with a salad - but when the nights start drawing in, nothing better than a good ol roast with all the veg, stuffing, yorkshire's. I love beef but to feed 6 of us it's kinda pricey!

Today, I had roast lamb, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, four veg with a splash of mint source. It's now 6:46pm, and I'm still bloated. Of course, I did have my tea at about 5. It really is true what they say: the way to a man's stomach is through his mouth.

Yes but I made a massive mistake today and went to Wetherspoons for one.....OMG it was awful!! I complained about the dried up veg and meat so the waitress grudgingly chnegd it for even more dired up beef and withered carrots. Ten minutes later they brought the gravy out and it was lamb based - for a beef dinner!! All in all it was horrendous and next Sunday I will revert back to making my own complete with all the trimmings. Yummy!!!

We just did too! Bit warm today so had roast beef, with salad and crusty bread, instead of all the normal veg. It was great! Wish i'd made a pud though!

Yes, but only in a pub/restaurant. Living abroad I noticed how wifes were taken out to eat on Sundays so they could have a break away from the kitchen. In England, after a long hard week, we women take on a particularly "heavy duty" meal on the only day of rest. Something is not right with this picture, lol.

Not here, at least in what I believe to be your traditional Sunday dinner. But my husband and I cook together all day to churn out what we think is a proper meal. (Like no Hamburger Helper like during the week.) And then we sit down and enjoy it together. And the best part is we have a bunch of leftovers for the next few days or to freeze. So that's our traditional Sunday dinner.

As a Canadian commonwealther, I can say one of the best traditions we borrowed from Britain is the Sunday roast.
My family has had roast beef, yorkies, roast potatoes, accompanied by brussles sprouts, cauliflower/brocolli or peas & carrots nearly every Sunday for as long as I can remember and I never get sick of it.
