I'm considering purchasing a ps3, but one of it's major downfalls for me is the lack of vibrate. Since (as i understand it) this is a controller thing, will I still have force feedback when playing racing games (such as Gran Turismo) with a steering wheel such as Logitech's Driving Force Pro?

Yes, while using the logitech wheel you will get force feedback, this was added in a firmware update so as long as you firmware is up to date it should work fine. this can be done either directly through the PS3 if it is connected to the internet, otherwise it can be done by download it to a usb drive from the sony website and then transferring it to the PS3. The update also sllows vibration with old PS2 controllers via a usb adapter. Of course, the game has to support the force feedback and not all usb adapters will give you force feedback. The only reason that the PS3 did not have force feedback to begin with was a lawsuit with immersion which was settled earlier this year. Prototype rumble controllers are already in the hands of some developers, so expect Sony to make an official announcement withing the next couple months.

Hope this Helps!

Playstation 3 has removed the vibrator because the have applied a new wireless SIXAXES controller which has a sensor just like a Wii, the vibrator interfered in the bluetooth of the controller unabling it to act properly, due to this Sony chucked the vibrator thinking that people will enjoy wireless play more than the vibrator.
The Playstation 3 is a really good console, so dont let the vibrator interfere with you buying it, the SIXAXES is just as good!
Good Luck

I read recently that there will be a new controller out soonish with a new improved vibe back in, released to coincide with GT 5 prologue (which looks fantastic btw).
It was only a rumour, but, since the court case was settled it wouldn't surprise me if there was an element of truth to it.
