Heroin addiction is a very hard habit to kick, unfortunately. As his friend, what you need to do is NOT enable him financially, and give him the "tough love" approach. If his behavior continues, as it sounds as if he is experiencing withdrawl symptoms. Lots of people do get Methodone for this condition. I would suggest that you take him to a local ER, or to a Free Clinic that does dispense methodone for those users who are trying to kick the habit. PLEASE try to convince him to get some IMMEDIATE HELP! There are 24 hour hotlines for problems such as what you are explaining. In addition, the Crisis Intervention Center is a good outlet for you to call, also open 24 hours with a hotline. If he refuses treatment, call ur Local ER, and get some help from them. I realize this is tough. GOOD LUCK to you and to him!

Actually it is not as easy magic as your friend is waiting for. He/She will get more addicted if he will continue to get rid out of heroin. Please consult any very specialized doctor, because it is a darkest way where he is pushed. God will help. It is very important to treat your friend with love and care. Do not intent that he is doing any thing criminal. Its natural that body cells demand the heroin and even more demand on each supply.
Talk to your friend and tell him/her that Life is beautiful. Give a nice company to him. Do not show the darkest ways where he is going on. He can become addict free only with specialized prescription. So if you want to make him normal. you, by yourself consult any doctor to get him out of addiction. Ask your friend to take proper treatment and all above make your friend 24/24 hours busy as you can.

First and foremost heroin addiction is a *physical* addiction, and that won't be cured by hypnotism - you'll need to take - probably - methodone to alleviate the pain you'll feel on detox. Once clean, hypnotism may help you stay off of the stuff, but I'd suggest counselling groups in addition.

Hard thing to do. The patient will CRAVE it...he will need sleeping shots or pills until the craving goes away. That is why they need to be inpatients for some time in an addiction treatment center. The objective there will be to reduce the need of the drug.

When the patient can be handled in an outpatient basis, he or she has to attend a support group. At least in ALANON they want the patient to make a daily compromise to remain free of the substance for a day, it is easier to think about not using drugs one day than being free of drug forever.

The final step is to avoid the patient to fall into the temptation again if he or she managed to get free from the drug. Provide him or her another escaping valve, so that they don't handle their problems by drug use anymore.

you're talking about a serious withdrawal that really needs professionals to help with. You should try to get your friend into a hospital as soon as possible. I could tell you various things to try, but I don't feel they would really help if your friend is already at the peak of the withdrawal. If nothing else place them in a hot bath for 30 minutes. This person is going to go through so much I don't know if you can handle it.

There is Narcotics anonymous and also to begin with you can enroll in a methadone clinic, they give you methadone, which reduces the craving for heroin and helps. Another drug used is called buprenorphine, it helps too. Acute withdrawal symptoms can be controlled with the use of catapress( clonidine) a blood pressure med. It will help with goose bumps, flushng of face and irritablitiy, not much about nausea of diarrhoea. Good luck, I hope this was helpful.
