im 14 and im trying to find out what i want to do in life and this is one of the things im thinking of doing.

It's fun, but it's a lot of work. Learn how to write well, and major in something like history, economics, politics, nursing, science or something that will make you a more valuable reporter.

Practice writing whole sentences, not the abbreviations like when you're texting on your cell phone. Go back and look at your question. Can you see where you should have used capital letters and punctuation? There are no more copy editors and if you mess up, you'll be embarrassed. Or at least, I hope you would be embarrassed.

Read Time, Newsweek and Weekly World news every week so that you won't be seeing things for the first time when you get a real job. For instance, a local reporter wrote that someone's favorite perfume is "Cote's Emerald". If she had ever seen a magazine ad, she would have known it's "Emeraude by Coty."

The pay is very bad unless you have a "look" that will get you a TV anchor job.
