I agree. More packages should start using the slide zippers. Have you ever tried to open a regular zipper on a package from the freezer? 25% of the time I end up tearing the package.
With bacon it may be a need problem. Most families would probably cook a whole package. That is prejudiced against single people but what can we do?

Packaging figures into the cost of a product. Meats are expensive enough, as it is. In order to keep prices from being any higher than they already are, I don't mind splitting open a package of bacon. There is a price to pay for convenience, you know.

It is a very good idea!
I have bought a box to store bacon in, it even as a rack to drip the bacon on and it seals on four sides, get one if you can.
It might take a while yet for someone to read our comments!

Good idea..not sure if you asked a question though. I thought I had seen a package of bacon with a zip top though. Kraft is launching it: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/news.pl?id=25168&seenIt=1
I would like to see them use ziplocks for cereal as well. My kids have a hard time rolling the inside bag down so it stays rolled up (they sort of just mush it down) so cereal gets stale.
Ziplock would be excellent for that.

Perhaps you might direct your question to the companies who package bacon.
