Smith & Wesson has been a toss up with semi-autos. Some people live by them and others will not touch them. I owned a .40 cal S&W Sigma and traded it in within 6 months. Stove pipe after every 3rd shot. I have not heard about the M&P excepted that they are trying to get the Law Enforcement backing but cannot because departments are set on Glock, Beretta, 1911.
For that kinda money you were looking at spending for the 410s or the M&P, take a look at Beretta 90-Two, Springfield Armory XD Series, Taurus 24/7. I am not trying to swayed you just inform you. You may buy the S&W and it work just fine and you love it. Go with what you gut says. Happy Shooting!

In reliable judgment of right and incorrect i can not propose any Smith & Wesson pistol with the call 'Sigma' related to it. I pay attention they have been mounted yet I had an exceptionally undesirable adventure with a commonplace era Sigma 9mm. First, the nightsights stored falling off and it stored jamming the different shot. The nightsight concern became into resolved regardless of if it by no skill extremely jamming. now not even after 2 greater returns. I took my loses, unloaded the gun and gave away the LE in basic terms hi cap magazines to a deputy constable i did now not additionally be conscious of who became into wearing a Sigma 9mm yet did now not have the hi cap mags. additionally, there is the challenge with Glock and S&W having to pay monies for unauthorized layout copies on the Sigma. So now I stick to Glock, Beretta, Ruger and old standbys merely like the Colt 1911. H

S&W has a dubious track record with their semi-auto pistols. I know there are some good models and some that have had design flaws fixed, but honestly I have just stayed away from them due to not knowing which ones suck and which do not.

I've owned several S&W revolvers, and they are good to excellent, but I owned just one S&W semi-automatic. It was OK as long as I used full metal jacket ammo, and it was accurate. Several other pistols have done better overall in my estimation.

Smith revolvers are awesome. Taurus sucks, stay away from them, Ruger rocks. The SW MP is a great gun, all 3 calibers will shoot their butts off.

I shot a M&P 9mm before it seemed like a good accurate weapon.I never knew anyone that had one to have any problems with them.
