My soon to be little step brother will be turning 9 in January.....Any Idea of a good, durable, and nice pocket knife that isn't too expensive? I'm willing to pay up to $20.00 for one... Oh, and he also love the woods and the outdoors, so It has to be an absolute durable knife. Also, he doesn't like serrations!!! Thanks, Garrett.....

Gerber is an awsome first knife. They have all kind of different sizes and prices. Wal-mart has a fews gerber knives you may like. Gander Mt. and Dick's Sports also have great selections for Gerber.

I carry tactical knives everyday (a pistol too but that's another subject). But one year for Christmas my lil brother bought me a knife from walmart. It came in a little tin box it was a a small lock back folder black micarta handle, with a 2.5 inch clip point blade. I think he spent 10 bucks on it. I used that knife so much it wasn't funny. Opened mail, boxes, cut cord, and a wide number of stuff (stuff I'd never dull my tac knives cutting). It was a solid little baby knife measuring 5 inches open. The closest thing to this knife that I could find after I lost the one my bro got me was a buck prince. For a 9 yr old get him a small lock back. Swiss army knives are neat I've had several given to me and never carried one a single day. My other favorite non-tac knife was an old-timer with a sheep foot and clip point blade. The kids 9 he doesn't need a tac knife or a big folder. Get him a little lock back or two blade folder it'll handle any problem a 9 year old will come across that a knife can solve.

Once again I have to recommend the Boker Magnum series of knives, for a 9 year old I'd recommend the drop belly knife over the tanto blade, both have serrations and non serrated blades. Top lock, fast opener, durable, around 18 to 25 bucks depending on who you buy from. I've had mine for 5 years and it's never even needed to be sharpened.

Can't go wrong with a decent Gerber knife, but that'd probably be more than $20. A cheap knockoff is a Swiss Army knife.
