Because there is no god, the world is not always fair because it has no mystical overseer.

No, actually this world is a test. It is not supposed to be fair, or to have proportional outcomes all the time. Sometimes good people have bad things happen to them; this can be a test or a view of making them even better and more patience. Actually in Islam, once a person is on the path to goodness he should accept trials. Because God will always try us on our words. For example, if we say We believe then we will have to show it through our actions. In good times as well as in bad.

The hereafter, the life after death is where we will be rewarded or punished depending on our actions and our intentions.

God gives no guarentee that if any person does something good that they will be automatically rewarded.....at least not as they expect to be rewarded.

Matt 5:44-45
44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
(from New International Version)

God "allows" many things. The alternative is His controlling each person on earth so they can only do exactly what He wants them to do. That would mean that we are only robots.

What we want is that God allow what we like and not allow anything we don't like......this would make us God's master.

Why do good things happen to bad people? Because there is no mystical god looking over us every second and everything happens purely by chance and free will. We chose to let OJ go, not god or anything. Duh!

Atheist BTW if you didn't catch that.

I think it has more to do with satan than God. satan wants to rule the world and prove to God our disloyalty, Wicked people don't need to be tested because they are always turning the back on our creator, or seems to anyway. Its the people filled with the most faith that that really pisses of the devil, and he's willing to do anything to turn us away from God. I don't think God tests us like that, but he does watch and he'll forever remember our sacrifices, and Love. This is just an opinion, and maybe its just what I need to believe in order to understand the same mind boggling question. I hope this helped

That whole idea of be good and you will get good is completely false and causes so much trouble and heartache for people. The truth is life is difficult for all of us in certain degrees. There cannot be good without bad. God is everything. In order to spiritually progress towards God, we must experience every good and every bad over many lifetimes.

Who promised you a rose garden? Sometimes things can actually get worse for you if you are good. I've seen it happen and you just have to go with the flow. Belief in God does not always gave you a world seen through rose colored glasses. Sometimes it makes you cry out, "Why me?" Faith is tested in many ways.

Sweet Pea good and bad things happen to everyone whether they are good are bad. When you are a good person and you live a Godly life than the things you do and receive are not in vein. For bad people all things are in vein and wont last long. God Bless!

It's all part of life. Good & bad happen to everyone. God never promised that life would be perfect. We rejoice during the good times and grow & learn life lessons during the hard times. Without the tough times we would not experience the real feeling of pleasure during the good times.

God did not make us into puppets with strings. He gave us free will. Good and bad will happen to humans, regardless of whether they are good or bad. God does promise, however, never to give us anything that we cannot bear and that He will be with us during our good and bad times. He will never, ever forsake us.

A good place to start would be reading the book of Job, the oldest book in the Bible. Look up some studies to help you along if you wish.
