Teens, doing twice the posted speed limit, while texting their friends, concern me more.

One incident can not condemn an entire age group.
AARP holds classes for seniors to get updated on the rules and to make them more aware of changes. for instance, we were taught to hold the steering wheel at 10 and 2. Now, with airbags in cars, they say use 9 and 3.
I suggest anyone over 50 take the class. Nominal cost that is more than offset by the savings on your car insurance.
The deadliest ages on the road are under 25. Insurance rates bear that out; car rental agencies often do not rent to them.

Most seniors do not want to give up their driving privileges, even if they should. One told me to give up her car,was like putting both feet in the grave. She would not depend on her kids to take her where she wants to go.The bus systems here are bad and very dirty. The cabs are the same and terribly expensive. So,it is a problem. When I am driving and I see a senior I give them all the room I can.because you never know what they might do.I am 64 so I'm getting there, and I will probity be the same.

The real story is that 50 or more people were doing a customary wedding walk from the bride's house to the husbands. It was at night on a rural road. They had a truck that was supposed to be following them with flashers on but it was having to turn around when this 71 y.o.guy plowed into them. It was so dark he couldn't see.
I think this could have happened to anyone.

Every driver should have a compulsory medical and driving test every 5 years. At the age of 65, this should happen every year. And when I`m the Prime Minister, every driver will have to take the advanced driving test, and pass it.

You can't judge all older drivers because of one that killed 6 people. Most of them are responsible and do know there limit. The seniors I know only use there cars to make short trips and never drive on the highway.

I am terrible with names, but Isatope (or whatever it is) was talking about this earlier. How awful for everyone. Take my license please... when the time comes.
