What is meant by a 3 megapixel camera?Im not going to buy any camera,i have to do a computer science assignment.

it is to do with how the picture is made up if you have a 3 megapixal the picture will be made up of 3million pixals the more pixals you have the better the picture will be.

"Megapixel" is a term that refers to the quality or snapshot accuracy of a camera. Having a 3 mp camera is not too shabby, if its a camera phone that is. If its a camera then you could get something like a 5 mp camera for almost the same price as a 3 mp camera.

The mega pixel count refers to the resolving power of the CCD imager. The actual horizontal/vertical size depends on the aspect ratio, some cameras are 4:3 because they use the cheaper CCDs developed for video cameras, some are 3:2 which replicates the frame dimensions of traditional 35mm film cameras. Some manufacturers triple count the pixel elements because they have separate CCD imagers for Red, Green and Blue colors. This is a marketing scam, for a picture element refers to the resolution of the entire frame, not how it may be broken down for processing.

3 megapixel means there are about 3 million pixels in the file you open up when you look at it on your computer (sometimes the settings in the camera can make it less). Each pixel is a dot of color, so the more pixels, the larger the file, but the more detailed. Computer screen resolutions work the same way - a 1024x768 computer screen resolution has 1024 * 768 = 786432 pixels.

thats the resolution. the clearness of the picture i think. thats not a very good reolution. 10 megapixels is very good. 3 isnt

THAT CAMERA IS GOOD ENOUGH
IT MEANS THE QUALITY OF WHAT YOUR PICTURE WILL LOOK LIKE. HOW CLEAR IT WOULD BE.
WHAT YOU NAMED IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THAT.
U CAN PAY ABOUT 150 OR HIGHER AND THE CAMERA WOULD BE GOOD FOR THAT AND PERSONALLY
